Unfair Glitch Death
In my first playthrough of Uplink so far, I had gotten pretty far into the game, and I was breaking into the International Criminal Database, which was fairly simple because of how far I was. So I turned up the speed while I waited for the decrypter, proxy disabler, etc., but all of a sudden the screen went black and I could only see the mouse pointer, then after about five seconds or so, I alt-tabbed, and it turns out that firefox had popped up with an update alert, which had aparently cause the screen to go black in game. When I reopened Uplink, it said that Uplink had been forced to disavow any knowledge of my actions... caught breaking into the International Criminal Database, yada, yada, yada.

So basically, there was a minor glitch which caused me to lose control of the game for just long enough to cause me to fail/die in the game. I got really far into the game and I wanted to know if there is a way to get my progress back, or even just to alter the save file so that I didn't die, because it wasn't my fault that I died.

Thank You

No. Once you lose, the world data is also deleted. All that's left are the stats.

Crap! sigh Oh well, at least It'll probably go faster now that I am experienced. Thanks for the response though Luna Deos, now I can restart without the niggling thought that I might, somehow, be able to get my save game back. :tank:

what? Darn it steam. I wrote _n i g g l i n g_, not the n-word, jeez.
I don't like turning the speed up during decryption and stuff, because I always wonder if the decryption process is actually also sped up, or only the tracking. Don't worry though, you can get to your level in about 80 minutes.
