can someone tell me a decent way to blast these things cause they are giving me hell especially when placed in mountains where my guys spend hours not moving anywhere but down

Oh you mean the Trifids. Yeah they're nasty.
Get up close with your Squad and spam grenades. Also, airstrike works amazing if you have it.
These and Anthills are the only things airstrike is good for anyway.

Lasers don't hurt them, so don't bother sending your darwinians over there.

ya man i hate those things i usually grenaded them but if they were out of my reach i just spammed airstrikes and hoped they got off course enough to hit the damn thing(worked btw i beat the game KILLING ALL OF EM)

yeppers but sometimes they were almost unkillable

If they prevent you from winning, restart the level. They only start launching when some non-virus object comes near. An airstrike bomb will kill them in 1 hit, unless you miss.

yeah i figured out most of them are easy to kill with spamnades by 2 groups of soldiers

If some seem unreachable, lower the terrain detail in the graphics options. The lower polygon hills are easier for squads to climb.
