Demo v0.13.0 (0274) patch notes - 9/3/2023
Reality Break Demo build v0.13.0 (0274) has gone live!

Courtney's dev notes: Again, thank you for checking out the demo and for providing incredible amounts of helpful feedback! In this build, I focused mainly on quality of life features and fixes, as well as a variety of smaller improvements across the board.

Stability
  • The game will no longer get into a bad state if the Fate Core finishes analyzing the first time before the applicable story dialogue has completed. (Courtney's note: This was the largest remaining known stability issue. If the game gets into a strange state for you, please send me your log files.)
Quality of Life
  • New Option: Multi-Loot. It is now possible to hold down the Interact button on both gamepad and mouse+keyboard to hoover up all nearby loot. The Option dialog has a new entry under the Input category that allows you to select the multi-loot speed, which affects both the repeat interval as well as the initial delay. (Courtney's note: It is still possible to loot items by clicking with the mouse. Additionally, this unifies all looting in the game to respect the maximum range from the ship, so it is no longer possible to mouse-loot items that are super far away; they have to be approached. There will eventually be a Loot Radius stat that increases this range. Feedback is most welcome.)
  • New Option: Screen Edge Ability Effects. This setting toggles whether certain powerful skills show effects on the edges of the screen while charged or activated.
  • Starting with this build, newly-added Options such as the above will have a "New!" callout until they have been viewed.
  • Removed the RP cap, as it was no longer necessary given the shipped version of the Demo build.
  • Made the Tier Bonus (such as +Power from Unfair Advantage) visible on the main Reality Stream UI without having to hover over the tier progress bar.
  • Made the game UI respect aspect ratios taller than 16:9, such as 16:10 and others.
  • Improved positioning of certain UIs on ultrawide aspect ratios.
  • Changed "Restart Mission" verbiage to "Respawn" so that it's clear to players they will come back without resetting the mission or map.
  • Made "Into the Vortex" more obviously a button as a temporary measure to making that feature surfaced more clearly.
  • Disabled collision damage with jump gates.
  • Lowered the delay before fullscreen tutorials can be dismissed.
  • The bottom-center Ship HUD is mostly no longer clickable or hoverable, except for the
  • Skill buttons and Menu buttons.
  • Changed Codex dialog description to clarify that Set Bonuses only last until the end of the current Cycle.
Balance
  • Increased the Colossus Reactor's damage output by 33%
  • Made Colossus Reactor's Self-Heal ability take 3 seconds to cast, up from 2
Itemization
  • Affixes that boost pilot Skills only begin showing up on items when the player's level is within 1 of unlocking the tier in which the applicable Skills can be unlocked.
  • Certain items now guarantee specific affixes: CPU = critical damage, Sensors = critical chance.
Story
  • Added dialogue to explain that the Colossus Reactor begins regenerating if the player stays outside the outer armor rings for too long.
  • Addressed an inconsistency between missions 5 and 7 regarding the pilot's relationship with characters on Station 6.
Performance
  • Preload more graphical assets to continue reducing hitches during combat and general gameplay.
Bug fixes
  • Input binding display strings now show up if no icon is available (e.g., Mouse4 and Mouse5, as well as others).
  • Fixed an issue with the Navigation map that made it possible to put the game in a bad state if clicking to warp to the station while already in a station map.
  • The Ctrl key no longer shows up as '0' in text strings that display it as an input binding.
