How is Steak Deck compatibility?
Also, is it really only 30 minutes?

For VNs you can check vndb to see how long it is and if there are extra patches available/if the Steam edition is cut. The current reported time on vndb is about 12 hours but that's for the full version.

As far as Steam Deck compat goes, there are not reports yet on protondb, so I can't say for sure. But I nowadays assume the majority of VNs should work without too much tinkering (at least from my experience on linux). Not sure about tekstsize and controls though, I don't have a Steam Deck myself.

I did end up buying it and as of right now, it does not work on Steam Deck. (I tried every proton version)

What doesn't work? Does it just crash? It might be an intro video that doesn't run or something. I wasn't planning on playing it immediately but now I feel bad. I will try to get it to work on my Linux minipc.

Edit: I quickly installed it on the only pc I have access to from work and it looks like it is a game made in Unity. The stupid thing about that, from what I know, Unity allows you to compile games for Linux and I think Mac as well but it seems like they didn't do that. I will try to get it to run after I am back from work because that PC I have access to is a Windows PC. I mainly play on that Linux PC anymore anyway, so I would have had to figure it out eventually. Hopefully it's as simple as getting one of the GloriusEggroll (GE) proton versions.

It fails to launch. When you hit start, it just goes straight back. It's probably a initial start up thing that happens in the background that doesn't work with proton compatibility.

For me on my linux PC it just works (including the intro video). I have my default proton set to experimental though and I didn't try to install the patch yet (which I will do later, but seems to be a bit of a hassle). I will try to fiddle with it some more, but for me it runs out of the box (with Proton Experimental). This makes it more difficult to try and troubleshoot though since I don't own a Steamdeck.

I just tried it again and it worked. Maybe they updated it or Proton Experimental did because that's what I default all games to and again, it wouldn't launch in desktop or gaming mode. So cool. I can't wait to play this

Great to hear it works now.

For the external patch (if you want) you need to run it, choose the correct path to your game in the dropdown (which is annoying because you need to have the Z:\ path, so you can't just copy-paste) and then it should do it's thing.

That's because the game on Steam is cut because of Steams rules. You can get an external patch that extends the game (with 18+ content). You can find more info on where to get it on vndb or some of the threads about patches might have it. I am not going to link because I know they typically don't like people doing so. vndb is your friend when you like VNs for more info about the game and things like this in general.

The patch is an exe that is meant for Windows, but I was able to apply it by doing what I said above. You will need to know where the game is installed to do so, it doesn't find it automatically. You can find that info by going to Steam (I assume in desktop mode for Steamdeck) and rightclick on the game > Manage > Browse Local Files. This will give you the path, but you will need to go it it by going Z:\ and by hand go through all the directories. It's a bit annoying compared to a bunch of other patches, but after it goes through the patch it should be fine.
thanks I followed your advice and, after downloading the patch and finding the pathway to override the files, it worked. :3

I'm realizing i'm quite late to the discussion, and this is probably not the smartest question, but how do you run the patch on the proton interface ? When I try to run it I simply get a window to choose what software to run it with...
Best regards

I don't own a steamdeck so I can't say for sure if this is the way to go, but you should run in through WINE ("Wine Windows Program Loader" on my machine), I assume WINE is installed on Steamdeck since it's what proton is based on.

You can also run it in the correct WINE prefix by running protontricks commands in commandline but it's a pain to do with the flatpak and even with it installed (through the AUR in my case, which I don't think you can do on a Steamdeck), it's still a bit of a hassle. I have no clue why they don't have a GUI interface for that in protontricks. It would probably be the easiest option.

That said, I realised later on that it's absolutely unnecessary to run this through the correct wine prefix, you just have to point to the folder where the game is installed. So hopefully just clicking on it and selecting "Wine Windows Program Loader" or "WINE" is enough. Hopefully someone else that does own a Steamdeck can help if that doesn't work.
