I run modified dragonmaids and Live Spright, both decks are near 1/3 starter cards, and up until this month I have had almost no problems bricking. Sure maybe 1 in 8 games I had to scoop because of no starters, but that's just rng. Right? RIGHT?!?!?!?!?
Now during the Duelist Cup, with BOTH decks, I LITERALLY haven't drawn a starting hand in 3 days of active play.
I am not exaggerating, I have had ZERO playable hands in the last 30+ games.
Writing Konami on this has never helped, they always send an automated response.

Why is Steam ok with a microtransaction game that manipulates outcomes?

YGO:MD is notorious for its poor drawing algorithm. I have countless replays I can share that have no rhyme or reason as to why my opponents draw a winning hand 8/10 times.

If their deck is indeed 1/3 starter, then drawing 30 hands of 5 cards with no starters in a row is 0.33^150.

Regardless of your block, I have my results of 5 quick games. 3 of them I was able to succesfully summon Sheou, which I would say isn't bricking. The other 2 hands were entirely dead. Nice job of assuming though. I would suggest touching up the deck for more consistency.

no, he needed an excuse to dip. To be frank, its not like you could help him, even if you say so. His claim is so outrageous that its not something that can be "helped" its just willful. Because its willful, he has a reason to leave before your inevitable next post that would promptly call out how off it is.

Yep, and I've mentioned before that MTGA is "secretly" rigged in the player's favor like this. Because it's not fun to brick. (Scare quotes are because they've admitted to the hidden mulligan but don't tell you about it in the game itself).
