Also on a side note, WTF did some stupid trainee braindead designer think to FINALLY introduce longrange movement but at the same time make it impossible to charge shell (and thus, quick Wyrmstake)?!
That's so incredibly stupid, it just shows how little they like GL :(
that logic doesn't work given that wyrmstakes weren't being loaded with slinger ammunition in the first place
There were 2 types in iceborne,
The normal wyrmstake which is basically the same in rise
The slinger wyrmstake which sticks to the monster and blows up each time you shell, which isnt in rise
Yep. Coupled with charged shells not doing extra stagger or trip damage I have no intention of playing GL in Rise.
It was my main in all of IB and most of base world.
ah, i see
it's probably quite easy to infer how little time i spent with iceborne versus that of base world
the sticky WS is still there but only the Wide shelling type can use it
Anyway, I think I got confused with the slinger which indeed stuck to monster body.
Once the wyrmstake is in the monster, you cannot affect it in any way. It just goes.
If memory serves, it essentially functioned like a +50% increase to shelling damage, so that's probably not necessary in Low Rank and High Rank, but it might become necessary again in Master Rank.
I hope we see it again, because it was fun. Lazy Poke-Shell-Poke-Shell-Poke-Shell etc gameplay with a Wide Gunlance was one of my guilty pleasures in Iceborne, lol.
Just tried Apex Diablos and I can't get out more than maybe 2 shells before having to Guard again. Every Wyrmstake is a big risk of getting hit, even the 'short' version (charged shell into WSC shortens WSC animation) gives me trouble.
I specifically built for Long Level 5 shells to get most out of WSC (and per-shell damage in general), kinda disappointed right now. With IG I never have those problems, it's so f*cking fast, mobile and still hard-hitting.
Gotta re-learn GL usage :|
