Thanks for the kind words folks!

I finally took the time to trawl back through the 2000-ish files again to find the ones I was missing, completed episode 6, and updated the mod.

You can now restore the original audio in every episode with the latest version:
https://gamebanana.com/sounds/50534

Additionally, I wrote up a Steam guide with images for those less techncially savvy, to get it installed:

Hell yeah! And this goes a long way to uncensoring the jokes because Bosco was a big censored case. Next sale totally gunna buy me a copy of this, you saved this rerelease!

I totally appreciate the sentiment, but this supportive comment, along with a negative one I received on my YouTube preview, give me the feeling that people are interpreting my intentions or feelings towards Skunkape incorrectly.

I'm not trying to "stick it" to Skunkape, and while my personal views are that art should reflect the time it was made (vs. being edited when it no longer meets or represents cultural approval), I don't resent them for the decision they made, nor hold any negative feelings towards them or Ogie Banks.

I'm a professional Voice Actor. Perhaps not to the same level of success of Ogie himself, but as a fellow VA, I have nothing but respect for his work, and I'm happy to see more representation in the industry in general.

Additionally, I can totally understand why Skunkape did what they did. The world is a much harsher critic today than when the original came out, and in the last year alone, we've seen a stark contrast in what is and isn't acceptable for an actor of another ethnicity to perform, for better or for worse.

Skunkape did what they thought was right to protect their new assets, their reputation, their work going forward, and their individual personal values.

They're a brand new company and this is their first major release. They can't afford to be caught up in a controversy and if doing what they think is right avoids that, then more power to them.

This mod was made because I believe that art should be preserved as-is, not edited when time moves on, it's not a voice of support for the original voice, but the artwork as a whole.

The mod existing creates the best of both worlds. Skunkape can publish something they believe in on a personal level, and those that find that disagreeable, can use a mod, but still continue to support the company as a by-product.

tl;dr: I like Skunkape and I like Ogie Banks. I wasn't fighting a war against them and the mod's creation wasn't a voice of support for any lack of political correctness in the original game.

This is a better take on why I did it. Because there are people who will now buy the game and support both Skunkape and the Sam & Max IP.

I really appreciate what you've done with this mod regardless of my opinion on the changes made. Thanks a bunch!
It's extremely commendable that you make your position and messaging so clear, Benjie. Much respect!

Thanks dawgs :-)
Well good thing I play the Sam & Max games without subtitles all the time. Makes it easier for me to enjoy the dialogue.

Subtitles kinda ruined some jokes for me

As a fan of the characters since the original Lucasarts game introduced me, this is awesome. Sam and Max later introduced me to Telltale (I still have their physical "goodies" and soundtracks from those games) and I have huge nostalgia for them and their games for both reasons.

I was greatly disappointed that the remaster censored the game (the voice actor change seemed silly to me, but the jokes being changed was a far worse offence IMO) so REALLY appreciate your work making this mod. I consider preservation very important, whatever it is (old games, books, art) and am disgusted whenever they are censored or changed for "modern times". Not just talking about one minor video game change, but things like classic literature being "updated" (I treasure my old Faraway Tree books). Some things might be offensive to someone now, but if we are censoring art, history is next.

I also think it's disrespectful to a voice actor to remove their work whatever the context. I even feel the same about games like BTTF where a new (preferable) voice track is done; personally, I'd much rather have Tom Wilson voicing Biff but the game should still let players choose.

For Sam and Max's remaster, I personally wish the devs had given players the choice for Bosco, but in this day and age it's not surprising that they took a "my way or the highway" approach, sadly.

Thankfully, your brilliant mod has come through and saved the world day. I got this game half price because I owned it (twice!) already, but if your mod makes more people discover Sam & Max or even Telltale games, it's well worth it, IMO.

Well done, mate, and thanks.
