Man, across the series, it has asked me if I had cried in the past week/month. I said no, but if I had to take it again, I'd have to switch that to a yes. Somehow the games have managed to accurately pinpoint pieces of my life down.

In the end, I wasn't surprised. The test(s) told me exactly what I expected, but also exactly what I needed to hear. I've been working with myself for the past 5 years, and just recently have I started to open myself up more. Try to experience new things and be more of the person I want to be - and these games only serve to motivate that drive further. And I applaud the creators for that. Truly.

These games are incredible in their own way, and I definitely recommend playing them, just to see what your own outcome might be. It's incredibly thought-provoking, and I was hooked immediately to creating the scenarios in my head to justify my own answers. Try it for yourself. :)

Revelation

So, like many of the recent reviewers, I too am a fan of Mark. I also adore Indie games that toy with psychological / emotional value and quizzes... So of course, this piqued my interest. Naturally, I paused my video with dear Mark being mentally frazzled by the first Test, and figured a purchase was in order.

For a few bucks, yes, it is definitely a glorified psychological quiz. If you don't like that being what you spend a dollar or two on? Don't do it.. But I do think for some it is valuable. Especially in this last one, it certainly has a "lift me up" value at the end and important mental health lesson/awareness that I found personable... and somewhat unexpected.

I figured all of us would get very common and similar responses. I see a bunch of "gifts" and "integrity" in the comments. What I did not expect is that there are many different secret words that surrounded these games, and that I hardly see some of the ones I got. Test 1 I received Angel. Which seemed to be somewhat common. Test 2 I received Grateful. Didn't see many of those.
Test 3, I got fair. I was extremely intrigued when I see there are very, very few "fairs" (not fairness, but fair) in the comments. It made me recognize this game indeed, does calculate responses to what you click and that it's not just a shrug-it-off general answer that we all get. It genuinely does appear to evaluate in an appropriate manner.

There wasn't much *thought provoking* in the game itself, for me. I knew my answers, and nothing about them was a difficult thing. Other people might not know themselves as well, reasonably, and that could play much more into their experience. The game experience was alright, but what really intrigued me more was the kind words at the end of 3, the explanation for what they were attempting to achieve in this 2020 publishing, and the mentality/emotional portion of what they were intending to prove to us as a whole.

If these games were priced much higher I wouldn't necessarily agree with it. In fact, I'd just have to *punch a nun* out of frustration if I paid much more, but these current pricings are plenty fair if you like thought provoking, "study" based content. Just be aware, each game is a little under an hour (However, if you hone in like I do it feels like 20 minutes). And some questions do repeat throughout this trilogy. Not all questions are asked in the same manner throughout the trilogy though. I did not expect questions in scenario style, "would you rather" style, and imagery to be brought into this game.

If you have a few bucks, have time to spare, or maybe just need a game developer you've never met saying a few kind words in a time of darkness- I'd pick all of these up. I am glad this trilogy is getting this level of attraction, and I am content in being one of those who hopped on the bandwagon to check it out. This gaming dev certainly won over me, as I do love a good indie game that can toy with the mind and provoke thoughts.

Keep it up! You definitely deserved the attention you've gained, Randumb Studios.

Secret Word: Prospect

I could deal with the preaching. I could deal with the weird questions. What.. I... Cannot... Deal... With.. Are.. The.. Constant.. Ellipses.. Making... The... Game.. Drag... On..

For ♥♥♥♥'s sake. I can read. I can read at a reasonable pace. It's like the developers are deliberately trying to pad the time you spend.

I am going to conclude my thoughts on the entire trilogy in this review.

Pros:
-The game makes you feel important. Let's admit it, we all like being asked questions and feeling like we are so interesting that someone wants to study the darkest corners of our minds.
-All three games have wholesome endings, the final one being the most wholesome.
-Each test is pretty short, so that's a plus because you get what you paid for, nothing extravagant, but also nothing too disappointing regarding playtime. The price is just what it is worth.

Cons:
-Remember how I said the endings were wholesome? Well, they dont match the whole vibe of the rest of the games. I have this feeling that the developers didnt quite know which direction to take with this project. Did they want to make it creepy and unsettling, with a bunch of references to Satan, murder etc.? Or did they want to make it a wholesome but glorified personality quiz, where in the end you basically get praised and told that you matter and are not alone? It just doesnt match.

-Multiple repeating questions across all three games. I guess it may be the game's way to "test" you, to see if you will stay truthful and honest every time, but to me it feels like the devs just ran out of ideas.

-I found the sound effects annoying. I do like the melodies, but the whispering sound effect playing repeatedly was excruciating to sit through.

-The games take themselves way too seriously at times, with questions and statements that imply that a game can summon entities into your home, that the character we see in the games is stalking us IRL, etc. Yes, I understand this is creepiness factor and I respect the effort, however I personally found it a little cringe.

Overall I do recommend that you check out The Test trilogy. It wont cost you much or take long.

Honestly, what an incredible game. And I mean it considering that I pretty much never leave reviews on games. I'm someone who is always looking into being more introspective. I'd consider myself what some including myself call... damaged.

The answers I got were not totally unexpected but still spoke to me deeply. I'm really interested in seeing what Catching Demons will be all about and how these words will affect gameplay. This dynamic alone is so interesting and I wanna see how it plays out.

My secret word is Compassion

WOW. Just WOW!
I was hooked from the first second with the beautiful poetry I didnt expect but really cherish.
This is by far the best part of the series (not only because the font is so much better to read and the forced horror elements are almost gone), the questions were so amazing and some really made me think for a long time. Such well thought questions. I was already looking forward to part 3 of the series and also wondering what its all about in the end.
Lets just say (without spoilers) I expected something completely different, but I LOVED the reveal. Its so so important, in this time, at any time, for me, for you, and for everyone.
I was in tears and that comes from someone who can count occasions where she cried on one hand. Beautiful game, beautiful message, beautiful developers.
If you already played trough the Test Trilogy: youre not alone! :)

If you plan on getting the games: DO IT! Be surprised and amazed! Recommend it to your friends, your family, your neighbor, everyone! and also get all their other games.
