[Bug] Steam removed all game files, insists everything's great
A couple of days ago, Steam updated the game and removed all the files. If I tell it to verify the game, it says 0 bytes successfully verified. I tried uninstalling and re-installing but no dice. Did a bad update get pushed? Please fix, my small human is demanding we finish the game. :-)

Hi!

Our coders tried several times today and cannot find the bug :/
So this is likely some OS/client issue on the user's end. Probably best thing to try is to go to the installation path and check that all of Catie's files are manually removed. The path should be:
{SteamInstallationDirectory}\Steam\steamapps\common

Remove all files relating to "Catie in MeowmeowLand" then try a fresh install again from Steam. The Steam cloud should have their save files synced.

Give us know if it solved your problem or not, please.

Hello! I tried uninstalling in steam, zapping the directory (after copying my save out of the way) manually, and re-installing. Clicking install switches immediately to "Play" as if it'd done the install. The directory didn't get re-created.

I did notice that if I force it to use Proton (I'm in Linux), it does download the full game. Switch it back to Linux and it goes back to acting like it's already installed. Is there someplace else I should clear out?

So .. We are about to release native Linux version in few days/weeks and this could solve tour problem, hopefully

Wait, that wasn't native Linux already? Sounds like I can just switch it back to run under Proton and be happy then!

Failure theory:
- I installed (in Linux), Steam installs the Windows version with Proton. The compatibility tool notice doesn't register because small human is telling me what she thinks the story of MeowMeowland is based on the picture in the launcher. (Note: actual game is even more insane than what she came up with!)
- ARTillery, being awesome and treating Linux as a first-class platform, starts jumping through whatever hoops Valve makes one do to support a different platform and creates a Linux release (but no actual data behind it).
- The Steam client, seeing that I'm on Linux, sees the native (but empty) release and tries to be helpful in swapping them.

You are correct! We should have realized this sooner, thank you for pointing this out! To the rest of our Linux fans - while we are still testing native Linux build - please go to Catie's properties (right click on Catie in your game list) and force "Compatibility mode" to "Proton".

I also thought this announcement meant there was a native Linux version already, but I guess it was something of a mix-up.

I look forward to the actual Linux version then.

Hmm .. this is interesting in bad way. Our Linux coder/tester was able to install linux version from Steam today with no problem. So we need to check what is wrong. Sry guys for delays.

Could it be that the correct Linux version is only available in one of the other branches of the game, that your coder/tester forgot they had switched to? According to SteamDB, the game has four branches in addition to the default one.

No, that would be too easy :(

Some time ago I could replicate 'zero-bytes download' on my main test setup (Arch/Plasma/ATI), but since then I uninstalled / reinstalled Catie several times without any issues. Main branch.

I prepared a new clean Ubuntu20 (AMD setup) and clean Arch install (Nvidia setup). Catie installed on both, no issues...

So... I'm honestly clueless. My best advice is to run integrity check ("Catie properties" > "Local Files" > "Verify integrity") and if this doesn't help... Try uninstall and reinstall Catie :(

Yes, you're right. According to SteamDB, the Linux depot is definitely not empty. The launch config looks a bit suspicious though:
https://steamdb.info/app/1417890/config/
Is that an actual executable in the installation directory?

Hi Flesks, the exec path should be fixed now :)

Thanks for the fix! I just bought the game, and it worked out of the box for me. :)
