Because they went to far in the wrong direction. Their combat system is not precise enough IMO to be as hard as they are trying to make it. They hot fixed it and its better

so it's now fixed?
Did not try the new patch, but combat felt even more clunky than before. Strange time windows to react and IMO bad announcement of enemy actions.

They try to counter lacking "but it is all handcrafted!" content with a souls-like difficutly approach. Meanwhile they are not able to make the core mechanics accessible and fun.
I guess it's fine they tone it down for the mass, but for me it's gotten crazy easy now.
I don't see much of a difference, I still get 2 shot by the ennemys, can't really attack after a dodge and they're on speed. Maybe they're a little easier to kill...
I remembered the gameplay was very precise, and I don't have this feeling anymore. Is it just me ? Or did they change the way to dodge ? Dodges use a lot of stamina, and make me move too far. Mostly right in front of the monsters...
Hot fix was still not enough IMO. Combat is slow and sluggish. Stamina is in a terrible place. You would think with like 10+ points invested, it would be significantly better.. It's not. Stamina depletes way too quickly and regens too slowly. Investing points in stamina should help stamina regen faster, but it doesn't seem to do anything but raise maximum stamina from what I can tell. It's a soulslike game with ARPG loot system. Problem is, it's impossible at times to find gear you are looking for. Gear system needs to be improved. Enemy damage feels overtuned still. I'm lvl 15 and getting 2 or 3 shotted by lvl 11 enemies with a combination of mesh and leather armor. Enemies currently have ridiculous range, stamina, poise and combos. Healing also is not good. There are no flasks in the game as you have to farm for food items. Game requires a LOT of farming for materials and such. I don't mind the farming to some extent, but they went overboard I feel.

The game looks amazing and the world design is fantastic, as is the sound and animations. The foundation is there for a top tier game. As it stands right now, it's ok but not great. Hopefully it will improve and the combat overhaul update will make a big difference.

Bottom line is there are a lot of great ideas here, but many are currently half-baked. We'll see if the devs respond to the negative reviews and make improvements. I thought the hotfix would help, and it has some, but it still needs a lot of work. This is all my take at least. Other may disagree.

does it have that Soulslike feel? i’m a masochist, i’m fine getting 1 shotted by enemies.

so all the mass malding reviews were just because game got hard?
I love Souls game too, but when you get killed by a mob you don't even see that jumped from a corner of the map, and you prefer running through the levels than fighting, it's a problem...

They gave back medium roll the invincibility frames they took, they unnerfed the backstab by widening the angle, fixed random difficulty spikes and slightly buffed weapon damage.

Meanwhile the enemies got more responsive, got more poise and recovery, got more complex attack patterns and became more agressive.

Now, in my opinion, they just need to do something about ranged combat - It still blows. Bows went from overpowered pre-Breach to useless in the initial Breach patch to half-way OKish now with the hotfix. Wands (again, in my opinion and from testing/playing for like ~12 hours) suck very hard, and the nerfs to focus gain impact magic builds overall in a negative way. Basically, only melee (take your pick - daggers. claws/fists, axes, shortswords or claymores) seem valid for now.

Another thing you have to get used to now is they WANT you to wear heavy armor in tandem with having an HP pool. Not sure how to feel about that. My preferred playstyle in these types of "soulslike" games is fast roll and a high HP pool, not heavy armor...

game being tough is part of the deal man, all us Soulslike homies are masochists anyway, if u are too, getting 1 or 2 shotted shouldn’t bother u fr.

Yep also farming, they nerfed alot now, it's pretty easy.
In Souls games, no mobs can 2 shot you, only bosses can...
Unless you play in underwear at level 1.

Mostly i would assume, i don't see that many issues with the game. Sure some tweaking when it comes to runes, weapons so forth but nothing major.

i could be wrong but don't u think stamina regen feels like something that should scale with ur gear? like an armor or accessory that adds regen as a status effect.
