Could that be the issue?
In 'The Room' games, there is click and drag, which means the left mouse button is held down for an extended time, which might cause it to stick. Everyday normal use, which is mostly just single click, might not be pressed down long enough to stick.
I have been playing Cooking Simulator with a mouse I've had for a long time, while holding down the left mouse button, it sometimes lost connection. Even though i held down the button physically, it did not register as such. This was not an issue for everyday usage, which was just clicking, but showed a prevalent issue whilst playing games.
You could do a simple test, open a folder, click a file, and hold. If the mouse 'sticks', then it is probably the mouse itself, and not the game. To be sure, whether it is or isn't, you should try doing it 10-20 times. If after 20 times, the mouse does not stick, then you have tested and confirmed with evidence, that the mouse itself is okay. If so, the issue might be caused by other things. Whatever the cause is, it is inadviseable to make big changes, for a minor problem that can be fixed with small changes. With that I mean, that it might just be a small problem that causes it, and making a whole bunch of changes, is likely to make it very difficult to find out the issue.
- Restart your PC and try again (it’s always worth a try!)
- Verify that the game downloaded correctly. Right-click on the game in your Steam library, select Properties->Local Files, and select “Verify integrity of game cache”
- Check that your drivers are up-to-date. You can find instructions on that here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6416-EYDH-0477
