How hard is it to play this game with a mouse and keyboard?

Hi, I want to get this game on Steam, as I've done a lot of reaserch, and have found that this version of the game is superior to the PS3 Trilogy. Unfortunatly, the only thing that the PS3 version of the game beats the PC on, is the controller. You see, I have Windows 8, and, as of right now, I can't use my X360 controller with my laptop, as Microsoft dosen't have the option for that yet (Thanks Microsoft!), and I don't know how to hook up a PS3 controller to a Windows 8 PC, or if that's even possible. So,if I get this game on PC, I'll have to use a mouse and keyboard to play it. So, my question is, how hard is it to play this game with a mouse and keyboard?

It's definitely possible. The biggest annoyance to me was the mouselook feeling a bit sluggish. I think the game controls better with a gamepad, but I wouldn't go running out to buy new hardware just for this game.

Yeah, it was taking so long to get an answer, that I just went ahead and started to play it played it with a mouse and keyboard one week ago. JUST beat it. LOL!

I am quite sure that I have played on my windows 8 system with my xbox controller already.
Yes, I load up extra a game to test it, the controller works just fine with windows 8.

And actually my sidewinder 2 has again driver support as well, yipie!

I have always played with keyboard + mouse, and for me is perfect. X360 gamepad though I have little experience.

Not a problem. Used to play this plenty with KB&M.
