New to UT99? Wondering what to download and where to begin?
7/30/22: Steam Guide is the latest version

Disclosure: I played the game heavily from the late 2000's to early 2010's before taking a decade long break and recently got back into it. What I'm getting at is I'm not an expert or much of a veteran. Regardless...

Prepare for an addiction, my child: GOG[www.gog.com] & Steam.
If you ain't got $10 to spare and can't wait for a sale, here's a (2008) alternate means of playing the game[ut99.org]. Here's a simpler method that may (not) be better[www.frontiernet.net] (warning: download links untested and site is http).

tl;dr: Don't forget to do some online searchin' for Renderers, HD textures, utilities, map packs, and gametypes. There are a number of (optional) posts explaining how to get fully started with (and tweak) the game, btw. Just gotta search 'em up (here's GamingWithSilvertail's from January of 2021). Whether or not every suggestion in such guides should still be followed after Oldunreal's v469b[github.com] patch last March is a different matter that others can comment on.

If this list feels overwhelming
Just install v469b[github.com] (or the latest official release[github.com]) and enjoy the game. Excluding Key Sites, everything below is the absolute most I'd recommend a new player to dive into. The game's got a very long mod history afterall.

Anybody know why Steam won't let me post a Guide? I'm guessing it's because I bought the game on GOG. >.>

@Neraksofia Tried it on Waterfax and Steam client before posting this. Didn't work. Might try again later, though, and atleast copy the error popup.

Don't try much, if it doesn't work, then you need the game here on Steam
try (g 2 a . com), it has an 87% discount on the unreal deal pack (for now), you won't find a better deal xD
