Unreal 2 Just wont start.

So I baught Unreal 2 as part of the unreal deal bundle steam does from time to time only to have the game close/crash right after showing the little startup graphic. I know my computer can handle the game and drivers are all up to date and stuff. And yes i have tried validating the game cash. If your having a similar problem please give as much info as you can. lets get this figured out.

Well I got it working. not sure how. I uninstalled Comcast's Constant Gaurd program so maybe that was somehow preventing it from launching. But i dont know.

Same problem, guess its time to dig out my old p4 and dust off the 6800GT lol, I tried setting the Unreal.exe to 98 and XP compatability mode but it would then crash with a "this app is already running" error instead.

Same issue here. Compatability mode doesn't help. First had crashes when I changed to fullscreen mode in the game options, now I can't open it at all with the "This app is still running" error.

Found out I needed to turn off GX support in the Xonar control panel which has solved it.
