Bug Report - UE4-BPM game crash
Seemingly at random, the game will crash and give me the following error, as shown in this imgur link - https://i.imgur.com/j5yO6Xj.png - I've had the crash about 5 times now, the majority of them have only been a crash to desktop, but a couple have been full GPU crashes that I had to restart my computer for. I re-installed the game after the first 3 crashes, and it was fine long enough for me to get a full run in and try out another character, then it randomly crashed again when I entered a shop. The only thing I can think of that might be an issue, is the net framework that was requesting to be installed upon initially launching the game wasn't installed, I accidentally closed the window after tweaking the audio in my sound mixer, and I have not received the prompt to install it again. Not sure how to replicate the crash, seems to happen with no apparent cause.

I'm having the same issue, haven't been able to play anything yet, although my new AMD 5600 is crashing on other games too currently
Hi, sorry you're having issues. We run stock unreal engine 4.25.3 so these graphics errors our out of our hands. But, we think there's a fix here:

https://appuals.com/how-to-fix-the-error-unreal-engine-is-exiting-due-to-d3d-device-being-lost/?fbclid=IwAR19bwUC4EIicpkXfdmrIuoGsEcArFCAU28ZZuhodZdGSam0nfYnlkk3gbU#:~:text=How%20To's%2FGames-,How%20to%20Fix%20the%20Error%20'Unreal%20Engine%20is%20exiting,to%20D3D%20device%20being%20lost'&text=According%20to%20Unreal%20Engine%20developers,work%20properly%20with%20D3D%20device

Also if you edit you ini in %appdata%

AppData\Local\BPM\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini

You can force windowed by changing the "FullscreenMode" property:

FullscreenMode=2

Thanks for trying to help, if I recall correctly I think SkillUp said you're a two man studio(?) So thanks for taking the time to trawl the Steam forums. I think it's just my GPU, it's crashing all over the place and I'm waiting for a replacement. Launching windowed didn't help unfortunately :(
I've also been struggling with this issue! It's unfortunate as I recently built a new computer and It's sad I'm unable to play the game for more than 3 minutes at a time.
I can"t even start a level :( damn 5600 XT...
i have a 5700XT Sapphire and after 3 minutes playing the game, my PC just turns OFF, its only happening with BPM
Having same issue caio, vega 64 card.
This is however the only UE4 game I've played in a while so I can't confirm if it's limited to this game or if it's any game on the engine.

Will try with the suggestion from AWE and report back if it works or not.
Hi all,

I was having the same issue as everyone here, and have since unfortunately had to refund the game. I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.

However, I tinkered with a few random things that did show promise. I initially couldn't get past the logo screen, and after the following change, I could play the game:

- Open 'NVIDIA Control Panel'
- Click 'Manage 3D settings'
- Click the 'Program Settings' tab
- Find BPM in the dropdown list of programs. If you can't find it, Click 'Add' to locate the game file
- Scroll all the way down until you see 'Vertical sync'
- Change to 'Off'
- 'Apply'
- Turn Vsync off in the game too

I did experience at least one crash during gameplay, and there was screen-tearing between stages, but the game was playable. More playabale than simply watching the logo screen and crashing right at the beginning anyway.

Hope this helps someone!

Edit: I am unsure of the AMD control panel equivalent, but it might also be worth trying to find any Vsync settings in there if you have an AMD card.
Hi friends. I was experiencing the same issue but it was a corrupted save file. Here is how I fixed it.

First, in Steam, go to Steam Settings, cloud, and then disable "Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization."
Second, type %AppData% in the search bar and follow this route: AppData\Local\BPM\Saved\Savegames and delete everything under the settings folder.
Third, Relaunch the game (but dont activate Cloud because I still cant activate cloud and play the game but I can play the game with the save files on my computer)

Let me know if this helps for you.

I tried this and sadly it did not work for me. Although I still do not know if I'm getting the same error but I will be randomly playing then a pop up will happen saying "Fatal Error" I still do not see the trigger for this.
Tried the FullscreenMode=2 fix in the ini file and also set a cap to my fps to 144.
Still crashes my computer after a random interval of playing
same bug.
Win10 Pro ver2004 build 19041.572
Ryzen 3500
Radeon 5700xt
None of the methods from appuals.com worked for me.
But capping the FPS-limit to 120 FPS did wonders.
I now played 2 hrs withoud any trouble. Before the game crashed every 1-4 minutes.
Capping it to 144 fps helped too, but it still crashed after about 30 mins.
I have a 144hz monitor. It even works in fullscreen now, which was impossible before.
