Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2

User interface too big.
I've played this game a lot before, but always hated to have my UI big as hell. My monitor has a resolution of 1366x768, that seems to be the problem along with the game's lack of advanced UI customization.

Is there any way to make UI smaller? By tweaking some config files or anything?

Options like in every other game. UI scaling is under graphics labeled as Interface Size.

I should have said this, but I have it already on the smaller option.

Then turn off the DPI Scaling.

The UI and its terrible scaling have been complained about for years. There's nothing you can do, and there's nothing the skeleton crew of devs will ever do either.

You can safely ignore him. He often is very unhelpful and often tries to start up arguments/drama.

If you have DPI Scaling turned on, it uses your Computer's DPI Scaling.

And windows likes to default to 150%.
Turn off DPI scaling, and reduce the UI scale to your liking. I have played it comfortably at 1024 x 768, you can scale the UI pretty far

If you wanna try for yourself, go to %appdata%/Roaming/Guild Wars 2 and have a look at GFXSettings.Gw2-64.exe.xml
There's nothing of any value in there. The UI just does not scale -- on my laptop the UI is the same size as on my desktop screen, only the resolution is lower, and thus it takes up more screen space. Terrible.

Well, thanks for the data. I might give it a look and see if there's something I can try, but I've looked on other boards and it seems to be nothing I can do.

Again, untick the DPI Scaling options in game or go into your computer display settings and change the Scale and Layout size (a drop box setting that changes the size of icons, text, etc). When the DPI Scaling is ticked, it uses your Computer's settings to scale the UI.

As SinisterSlay pointed out, on most Window devices, the default setting is 150% which can explain why things may be scaled bigger. If you wanna keep that Windows setting but wanna change the size of your UI independently, turn off the DPI Scaling in-game.

Ok! Not right now but in a few days I'll reinstall GW2. If it works, I'll make you know :)

Around here there are computer thrift stores. They sell old office equipment, some repurposed to gaming machines. Usually very cheap. Decent 1080p office monitors for $25. Maybe you have something similar near by. I bought a bunch of screens from them, and a computer.

If you're not on a laptop with build in screen, getting a 1080p monitor is really cheap on the used market
