Darkest Hour vs Red Orchestra 2
I used to play Rising Storm 2 a lot. I also kinda like Red Orchestra 2, but I am more interested in the western front. Would I enjoy Darkest Hour? Is it any better than RO2. Thanks.

Darkest Hour's gameplay is a little bit different. It is more of a milsim-lite FPS, where maps are almost battlefield-sized, and there is less urban warfare than there is in RO2. In RO2, you are allowed to spawn straight on your squad leader. In Darkest Hour, you have to place a spawn beacon just for your squadmates to spawn on you as SL. Darkest Hour is too different: Huge maps, spawn beacons that are few and far between in practice, logistics, building crap, building FOBs, roles limited to squads. All the stuff you see in Hell Let Loose/Squad 44.
If you want, in my opinion, the western front game you may be interested in is Day of Infamy if you want something arcadey but has similar gunplay feel to RO2

Should definitely try DH then. I mean, the game is $2 so you got nothing to lose really. The concept is basically to blend RO gameplay with new features, some of which are seen in games like Project Reality, and others are unique to DH, such as the front-line "dangerzone" mechanic.

I still play both, RO2 is more forgiving, and while not an arcade shooter, definitely floats somewhere between straight up RNG and milsim. DH is a surprisingly competent milsim, on larger maps anyway when there is enough people playing. The small maps are just simple rng goofiness. It's way fun and so, soooo many maps. It's clunky and awkward since it's so old, but honestly, has one of the best WW2 gameplay out there. Great armor mode too.
DH is a bit better overall and more tactical but RO2 is a better pure FPS since the recoil isn't as exaggerated.
