i think riot wants to reach marvel and dc's level of multiverses scale writing, the 2 best example of mega franchises which were famous for blending canon+alternate canon and fanon sometimes in a great way... sometimes not... what with how staggering the number of artists, writers, directors, and whatever else across hodgepodge of medias even for just 1 marvel or dc character... i dunno if its a good thing or not if riot want to reach that kind of level. i think riot should just progress its runeterra mainstoryline to a certain stable plotline point in which riot can safely explore many champions' storyline in a more consistent way (and with good writing quality... its a no brainer) while still within the safe main plotline areas. but that would also require immense amount of coordinations and agreements between the writers+artists+directors+marketings... eh... we'll see how riot do their job in the next years...
anyway... viego is simply a disappointing villain... thresh would be the better choice as master villain, but alas he always prefers to become support sidekick in the background instead...
thresh's role seems to be incomplete in this game... sincethere's a lore note in thresh's prison that said he wished to seek ways to the spirit realm after he hears from ionian prisoners of a tale about ionian spirit blossom flowers that blossoms when dead spirits are near, which were used by ionians in a festival to commune with the dead... he wants to seek a way to the afterlife of runeterra, so he could snatch them souls in the spirit realms for more torture lulziness... and there's also a lore note from a vastayan prisoner who that says thresh had extra special treatment for that person, which were described as him fouling up the spirit magic in that prisoner's cell... not to mention thresh defiling vesani artifacts to play switch brains between his prisoners...
but sadly, all that interesting works that thresh was currently working on was never progressed after that due to thresh being written as focusing everything to awaken the simpy yandere king of ruined expectations... i get the feeling that the devs didn't have time and resources to complete thresh's quest of opening pathway into the spirit realm through vesani artifacts, spirit blossom flowers and the vastayan prisoner... it would have add more connections between ahri and thresh... since their spirit blossom alternate universe story had similar roles and animosity to each other... blame viego for ruining thresh's much better plans to be a worthy archvillain...
maybe also blame all those teemo plushies that were sometimes dropped by thresh's mistwalker guards upon defeating them... damn, thresh knows how to torture the fans with teemo plushies..
I remember seeing they tease Hecarim at the begins of Ruined King but then he is nowhere to be found.
despite its many cut contents and incompleteness... imo this game's lore is still more solid and well written compared to RoS lore which were cringe-inducing and all over the place... we can only cherish what we got from this game and hope project L, runeterra mmo and other upcoming lore related new contents would be handled properly.
also, illaoi should have tried to seek help from ahri before she goes to yorick. ahri's power helped them trap the simpy yandere into that buhru amulet, so she would definitely be a great help in further sealing the amulet so that the ahole can't influence anyone again. though thresh of course would have more contingency plans for that so it wouldn't be that easy.
also, there's some unreleased cinematic contents cut from this game in its game files from what i've heard, where the buhru talisman didn't exist, instead they had to chase several different artifacts scattered around runeterra to help stop viego or something... and thresh were also present when viego materialized after possessing gangplank. imo that cut contents would've made smoother connection with the event of RoS, but riot decided against it and change them artifacts into a single buhru talisman.
so i guess it would take a long time if they want to made proper remake of the RoS event, even just for basic lore consistency between various medias concerning that event.
