This has now been answered, check above!
This doesn't make sense now that the OP was changed, rip cookie
I highly doubt its UE5. It was just released April of 2022. I wouldn't be surprised if OVK goes with UE3 though. Haha, JK, but not really.
I say its most likely latest version of 4.
Also, now that PD3 comes out this year, when will DLC price of PD2 be lowered? Still way too expensive!
Is Overkill Software still active part of teh development team or involved in the process?
If not, why is the game listed on teir website and why is the company listed on the games website?
OVK is not the same team that made PD/PD2. A lot of original team members left and Bo Andersson went crazy. Making things even worse.
If you look at Starbreeze's past history before purchasing OVK their IP's lost money and they barely stayed afloat. Really not sure how they havent sunk yet.
I mean, PD2 sold over 25 million units alone on PC. Yet squandered all that money and investments, and had consecutive flops with WD and Raid, but still somehow managed to avoid bankruptcy. Than milked more money from 505, other investors and players with DLC after DLC with PD2.
Starbreeze is a very shady publisher and I dont trust them at all, but to finally answer your question yes. OVK is still actively developing the game along with Plaion I believe. As you can see its OVK still posting things here on Steam. Not someone new from Starbreeze so its safe to assume they are indeed working on the game.
With that said I will be highly cautious/skeptical about this game.
That's the reason for the question and I want an answer by someone official.
Believe me I know all that stuff you mentioned in detail, I've been very active in the Payday community in the past so I also know that the only thing that kept them alive out of sheer luck was giving away 5 (okay more like 7) million copies of Payday 2 on Steam to generate a new playyerbase after burning the old numerous times no too long before the release of Overkills the Walking Dead.
The reason I'm asking is simple:
In an interview with IGN there is this statement:

So there are a few possibilities here:
So to get rid of the confusion once and for all I posted my question here.
Oh and btw RAID WW2 wasn't created by Overkill but Lion Game Lion who previously made the Golden Grin Casino heist.
IGN def got something wrong in translation as in the same paragraph they also go on to say that the game is not set in NYC.
However, we all now know it is with the logo reveal trailer showing NYC. So IGN def messed up the article.
RAID was published and funded by Starbreeze. Since Lion made some good DLC like Casino heist for PD2 I guess Starbreeze felt that warranted a whole game. Boy were they wrong.
Payday 2 is cheap whenever there's a sale
The "Infiltration tag" doesn't show at the first store page you need to click on it !
Might be intersting to add to the FAQ that Payday 3 will have (I guess) a Stealth part like the 2 :)
