Powerslave CE runs using DOSBox for windows to emulate the 1996 original. We are also including a Dehacker, that allows for some quality of life changes for users as well as expanding options beyond what the original title allowed.

To access Powerslave's original menu and set controller/keyboard bindings use the "Launch Configuration Tool" option.

To access the Dehacker options select: "Launch Game Editor"

Additional User options can be accessed by modifying the Configuration File for DOSBox. This can be found by Right-Clicking on Powerslave (Classic Edition) in your library and selecting Manage > Browse Local Files. This will bring you to the game's local files. Here you should see a file titled "dosbox_powerslave.conf".

If you open this file using a text editor (such as Notepad) you can change certain DOSBox settings. Here are some common changes that may be useful for users:

fullscreen=true or fullscreen=false

'true' will caused the game in fullscreen mode while 'false' will allow for windowed mode. Pressing Alt + Enter toggles between these two modes while the game is running.

output=openglnb and output=overlay

openglnl allows the steam overlay to function with DOSBox. Users may experience some issues with this feature. To remove STEAM notifications and disable the overlay change the output mode to overlay.

cycles=fixed 250000

If you encounter stuttering or lag during the intro cinematic, this can be resolved by changing cycles from fixed 250000 to fixed 150000. Raising or lowering this number will effect the speed that the game runs at. It you find the game is running too fast or too slow on your machine you can adjust this number accordingly.

Hi love to see the game on Steam after so long, do you guys own the IP or just distribution rights; also I tried to use Raze to get better results but it can't find the GRP file nor can I any ideas?

Running Powerslave with Raze Engine and PSUpscale Mod. I grabbed a copy of Raze 1.1.3 and used PSUpscale from mod db. Also, there is a 4x upscale. Runs great with nicer graphics.

I have Raze, but I can't find the file. What is the Psupscaler mod?

Check moddb dot com. If you check in the addons section, there are several there. There is a 4x upscale one, even. Here is the shortcut that I use to run the 4x game...

C:\DosGames\PowerSlave.4x\raze.exe -iwad stuff.dat -file ps_alter_upscale.1.zip -mh psgdx.def

Extract the psgdx.def file from the zip file (it's the ONLY file you need to extract). Put both the raze, zip and def file in the same folder as the game's stuff.dat file. Run the shortcut.
