Latest update today july 27, MSFS wont start anymore.
Edit2: Okay, i have traced it via Dependency Walker to Kernel32.dll in System32 (which is what the above mentioned WTF.dll and CoherentUIGT.dll links to).
Clarification. It's the function "SetThreadDescription" which is missing from my Kernel32.dll.

Basically, Asobo just decided to make the whole game incompatible with my Win10 version. No refund allowed, no nothing.
Thanks for wasting my 70 bucks.

Just pops up on the task bar for 1 second, then closes itself.
Win 10, 32gb ram, 1070 (6gb vram), intel i7 6500k

Edit: Post July 30 hotfix, still doesn't boot.
Edit2: Second August 7 hotfix doesnt help.

I've now filed a complaint against Valve with my local governments consumer rights council to move forward with a refund. I'm not accepting Steam's blatant "nope".

Same here, was working fine before the update. Have nothing in my community folder, did complete reinstall of MFS.

Trying to run the exectuable alone gives 2 errors.

FlightSimulator.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point SetThreadDescription could not be located in the dynamic link library
C:\......MicrosoftFlightSimulator\WTF.dll
C:\......MicrosoftFlightSimulator\CoherentUIGT.dll

Removing the two .dll's and validating doesnt fix it.

My error is related to WwiseLibPCx64P.dll

I caution validating thru steam. last time i did that, steam deleted everything in the folder. i needed to uninstall and reinstall
Same here, window pops up and closes again.

Good to know im not alone.
Could more people post what exact error they get when trying to just launch the FlightSimulator.exe ?
If we all have different .dll causing issues, it might be a problem with steams servers supplying borked .dll files, different per region perhaps.

I've tried in Swedish and UK regions (steam download region) when validating, still got the same two borked dll's
Havent tried others yet.

Same here, I connect on Steam it waits a sec and then the black screen appears, then I'm booted out. Have moved my Community Folder and have restarted several times. Could it be that they are blocking access to their servers due to demand?

Probably.

Most idiotic release planning I've seen.

Instead of opening up for PC users to download the (relatively) small update the day before they decided to have BOTH PC users AND XBox users download stuff at the SAME hour on the SAME day.

So now Xbox users are trying to download the ENTIRE game at same time as PC users are trying to download just the update bits.

Want to be 100% certain your servers will get overloaded? Release EVERYTHING at same hour on same day, instead of staggering out the release in a sensible way.

This is audio related. If you have any software installed like Nahimic get rid of it.
