Can't see MS Store / XBox friends

I'm signed into XBox/MS account and it is the proper account.

I played using my GamePass before steam released and was able to see my friends online. Despite logging into XBox/MS when I first installed this game, I cannot see any friends-- online or offline. They are not visible.

Restarting game/Steam/PC does not help.

I am experiencing the same issue. Also, in game, the multiplayer button at the top when you first open the game is greyed out. Might just need some time for it to load? Anyone else experiencing this?
