Crashing with new graphics card
Just installed an AMD 6700XT and the game freezes after a minute or two. Had no issues with the Nvidia 1070 this card replaced. Are there any known issues with this game and AMD cards?

Not at all, did you unistall properly the previous drivers?

I used DDU to remove Nvidia stuff.

Tends to work better on AMD in my experience.

What's the rest of your system look like? And when you say "freezes" you mean like a hard or soft lockup, not stuttering right?

May need to post Windows Event Viewer crash logs.

If it isn't some recent driver issue, the 6700XT is more power hungry than the 1070. Something to keep in mind.

It freezes then crashes to desktop. Corsair GS600 power supply, intel I7 6700. I haven't played many games yet. Just finished a session of Satisfactory with no issues.

I changed graphics settings from high preset to auto-detect rendering and the crashing appears to have stopped for now. This is on a 1440p monitor.

Could be faulty Shader cache.

AMD's Control Panel has a button somewhere that clears the shader cache files, but if turning on that setting works then I'd just roll with it.

Got a new Mobo and Ryzen 5600, and the game is crashing again. I upgraded to Windows 11 and the whole system crashed while playing the game, it crashed so hard windows would no longer start. I went back to win 10, cleared shader cache, but the game still crashes.

This is clearly a PSU failure if you use the gs600 with this system

Also if you use new Hardware you need a fresh windows installation

I was thinking of that possibility, but the system has no problem with stress tests Furmark and Timeslip

I updated mobo bios and just played the game for 30 minutes with no crash, it usually crashes within seconds of starting. I'm not gonna hold my breath though.

elden ring ist special, there is no single benchmark that can replicate the usage elden ring has.

short bursts, short times where nothing happen. I use a AMD GPU and force the GPU to run always at high frequency at GPU and VRAM to get stable power surge of the GPU to prevent malfunctions by a PSU switching lag.

I'm gonna keep the PSU in mind, but I want to play some other demanding games before I invest in a new one. I know the gs600 is old.

This is interesting to me. I have an AMD 6700 XT, and in the rare occurrences in which my game crashes, it's shortly after I enter a loading screen. I suppose I can try boosting my minimum frequency from 500 (default) to 2000 for Elden Ring specifically. I presume this will keep the GPU core voltage more level.

have you undervolted the 6700XT ?
search on youtube.
saves you about 20w and has 0 drawback

could also pontentially help lowering powerspikes

No, it's something I'll consider, it has that option in the AMD software suite. I've played some more and still not crashed since the bios update. Also played some Horizon Zero Dawn which spun up all the fans far more than Elden Ring has. I did pick up a new 700watt PSU which I guess I'll go ahead and install.
