For ps4 controller users, suggest to change from recommended settings to default gamepad, then you can use right side of the touch pad for the start/options button, at the moment it's only single use, for the select/share button.

Now that we have a jump button suggest to remap 3 buttons:
Dodge/Jump/Run for Square/X
Use Item for Triangle/Y
Event Action (Examine, Open, etc.) for Circle/B

This way you can run and jump easily, and most likely you've used to use circle anyways from playing other japanese games as an interact button. Warning if you only change the square/x and circle/b, you might consume an item because of muscle memory.
