What's the secret to the pulse carbine?

I remember shredding with this thing in a match one time, but I don't remember what I did differently there versus any other time I use this weapon. Any other time, it seems like I just have to hope the plasma bolts hit the enemy.

From what I can tell you have to keep your reticle on the enemy at all times as it fires, and even then it's horribly inconsistent with damage and hits

Edit: I'd avoid it to be honest, as far as pickups go even the plasma pistol is better
hopefully they'll change it or something as even the shots heavily obscure vision.

Don't shoot too quickly, and lead your shots just a little bit. Once you get their shields down, it's better to switch to your AR or magnum to finish them off.
