USE DXVK (low fps/stutter fix)

i have no idea how so many people are unaware if this but with this small fix i can crank graphics settings all the way up and maintain stable framerates well over 60fps on my system (im averaging over 100) and you dont even have to downgrade, im running the latest version of the game.
It seems the issue with gta 4 is that it does not play nice with the DirectX renderer and this fix forces the game to run in Vulkan.

download dxvk:
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases

1) place dxgi.dll and d3d9.dll in your GTA IV directory

2) create a new txt document and add the lines:
dxgi.maxFrameLatency = 1
d3d9.maxFrameLatency = 1

3) rename the txt document dxvk.conf and place it in the gta iv directory

4) in your gta iv steam launch options add the line:
-availablevidmem 4096

DONE

some extra things you can do:

make sure the steam overlay is on for this game and the screenshot button is assigned to a key if you use a controller (this stops the controller stutter glitch that makes the game unplayable)

go into the stream.ini file located in steamapps<common<Grand Theft Auto IV<GTAIV<pc and change each of the numbers in there from 204800 to 409600 (this makes gta 4 use 4gb of ram instead of the default 2gb)

You can ignore all that now, DXVK 2.0 is just plain better and you should use it instead.

you got a single channel of ram. is prob the likely cause of fps dips. two channels of ram (2 sticks) will increase speeds alot

Also, if you intend to upgrade RAM, buy all sticks you intend to use at once. Do not mix and match RAM sticks or else you will run into a bottleneck.

Oh Lord, it works! I've tried it in the past, didn't work, but now it certainly does. The overlay-cursor issue is quite annoying, though.

In the download link, you'll find the dxvk-X.X.X.tar.gz file under "Assets", at the bottom of the latest version release post. Within the file, go to the dxvk-2.0.tar/dxvk-X.X.X/x32/ directory and you'll find the d3d9.dll file. The dxgi.dll file is not necessary.

12GB of RAM will be your biggest performance problem - you are losing 30% of the maximum graphics capability of Intel integrated graphics by not having two matching RAM sticks.

Your Intel processor supports the following RAM speeds -

You may well get a boost using DXVK, but existing RAM is going to hold you back. Use two matching sticks of the fastest matching RAM you can afford. This makes the biggest difference and will maximise performance using DXVK.

I cant seem to make this work with any commandline entry. With this fix, my game cant seem to force recognize my VRAM, so I am always stuck with 512mb with this fix installed. Tried putting it on the Launch Options in steam and through a commandline text in the folder. Any thoughts? Thanks!

is this an AMD problem? The game recognized all my VRAM without any fixes , using RTX 2060.
