GTA 3 Won't let me play on Windows 8

I wouldn't say it's broken, but the game won't start because of the video mode issue. What should I do?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling, I have a Lenovo Windows 8 laptop and it works fine.

Got problems too. When i load save game, and run my char die. :| and also i can go back with cars :c

Again, the only thing I can think is that it just didn't download properly, it happend with me on skyrim, it kept glitching, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it worked

really, my char die because it didnt download properly? xD are u serious? i got windows 7 when i download it, and go upgrade to windows 8.. and got bugs :P so i dont think so its a dl problem

Sometimes when it downloads, it doesn't download health and world generation files properly, the same thing happend to me and redownloading it helped.

This might work but when you start up GTA 3 if u see a black screen and then 3 or 4 seconds later it pops u to the start screen then try to change your screen resolution settings to low like 1280x720 for your computer desktop just try to change the resolution that helped me alot.

same with me and i have xp and the problem is that when ever i shoot gta 3 shuts down

Since you updated to Windows 8 from Windows 7 I'd recommend you to reinstall the game. Maybe the game is configured to access things, that have been moved in Windows 8 or something similar.

Yea.. GTA3 is bugging on fast machine after turning off V-sync... when i turn it on i can play it again ; _ ;

after you lauch game, minimise it, and try turn off, 3 cores for it. Just left one core and should be fine.

This helped me. I went into the properties and under compatibility at the bottom under settings I checked the boxes next to reduced color mode (8-bit 256 color), run in 640x480 screen resolution, and run this program as an adminstrator. I also had compatibility mode set to Windows 98, but I don't know if that did anything. Anyway, this let the game launch and I was able to choose appropriate settings and everything. Now I can run it without needing compatibility mode or any of those aforementioned settings on.
