if I want to play GTA3 without mods, there's no reasons I started this discussion.
Solution was found actually. You may use dual OS installed in your Steam Deck.
You can have tutorials on youtube and there's several video about have both SteamOS and Windows at the same time.
I am currently trying to get this to run on the steam deck. So far the it's not looking good. I can see the intro but when I get to the main menu the screen is black but you can hear the button prompts. You can also launch the game from the blank menu but all what you will be able to hear is the starting cinematic. The only way I was able to get that far was by using the proton experimental version.
I got my working by doing this (steam deck)
Tinker Steps:
Custom Proton: GE, Set launch options
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d8=n,b" %command%
Downloading and trying the game only leads to a black screen. Instead of using the re3 version you can still use the default version from Steam. Thanks to Keebz for their Vice City config it works well here. Download the Definitive Edition Project Mod, apply a launch command and use GE Proton and it'll work properly.
You can find the mod here: https://www.definitive-edition-project.com/iii-de
and for gta vice city try proton 4.11 -13
enjoy!
