Alwa's Legacy

Stuck in the Controller Remap setting screen
If I entered the screen of `Settings -> Controls -> Edit Controller` then I could not move to the other screen. In this screen, `ESC` is not work for "Back" control. In the other screens, `ESC` is work expectedly for "Back" control. I could only `ALT+F4` in this situation.

How can I "Back" control in this screen? or, is it a bug?

What controller are you using?
Does the Controller have any type of "Switch" on the back of it to dictate the type of controller it is?
Do you have the Controller settings set up in Steam?

Hey this kind of worked for me, can't really map the buttons jump and attack are fixed to the Y and X (I wanted them to be A and B) still I could exit the screen and start the game, thanks a lot
This screen is a bit of a mess. It needs the following to be fixed:

* Let us change one button around (possibly in exchange for another already bound button) instead of having to rebind all of them every time (especially since it's rare we'll need to always rebind up/left/down/right)
* Let us reset controller settings (only) to default bindings
* Let us cancel out of binding a button
* The button to exit out of this screen said "Y" for me, and that didn't work, probably because I'd rebound Y to something else other than what the game expected. That icon should show whatever the new binding to exit out of that screen is, or never change.

We'll do our best to fix this! We're not making excuses but our former lead programmer who wrote all of these scripts unfortunatly isn't working with us anymore. Our new programmer is brilliant but it's an absolute nightmare for him to dig into code that was written in 2016 by another person without messing anything up.

Our best way forward is probably to rip everything out and rebuild it again from the start. But that's probably at least a couple of days of work. But we'll do our best to spend time on this once we've ironed a few other issues out. Sorry!

I have had the same problem with both a Nintendo Switch Wired controller and a Logitech F310. Using a Mac OS X 10.14.3, playing through Steam.

Same problem, so it seems to be a MacOS problem? I'm using the steam controller. All buttons except "attack" and "use ability" are mapped and working from the start. But as soon as I enter the remap controller screen something seems to happen. I can't back out (not even with keyboard) and have to force close the game. I've tried setting the controller as an xbox controller too and it's still the same.

If there's anything we can do, provide info or anything, I'd be happy to do so. I tried looking through the game files and found two that I thought could allow me to map buttons, but nothing relevant was in any.

For me it also works perfectly in Alwa's Awakening.

Hope this can be fixed without too much work! Thank you!

We're aiming to spend a couple of days this week looking into these issues. It's really complex but we'll do our best. The reason some things work in Alwa's Awakening and not as well in Alwa's Legacy is that these two games was programmed by different people and in Alwa's Awakening we didn't have buttons show up in the font like it does in Alwa's Legacy so it's a much more complex script. We'll do our best though! :)

I have a Mac, and a Dualshock 3 controller connected via USB. The game seems to think it's an XBox controller, showing "ABXY" for the buttons, but that's fairly common. When I first tried to remap the buttons I saw nothing assigned for attack or inventory, and I couldn't see how to start rebinding. Restarting without the controller attached and looking at rebinding keyboard showed me that "N" was the key to start rebinding. I reconnected the controller, started the game, and went into the controller rebinding menu, but the game wouldn't recognize any inputs from the controller in the binding process. I followed the suggestion from usagi upthread and turned "Steam Input Per-Game Setting" to "Forced on" in the game properties, but then the game didn't recognize there was a controller connected at all. I put that setting back to "Use your global Steam Input settings" and tried one more time, and this time the game recognized controller inputs during the rebinding process, and I was able to define all controls. I'm not sure why changing that setting then changing it back had an effect, but if you're having similar controller problems, it wouldn't hurt to try that.

Great that you got it to work!
M-137 11. čvc. 2020 v 16.28
My solution was to just bind the jump and attack buttons to the keyboard equivalent, and that works perfectly. So for example if jump is space, I set the A button as space. The game has no problem accepting both controller and keyboard inputs simultaneously.

So we got two solutions so hopefully anyone can get it to work either way.
hey there I'd like to throw in my two cents: I noticed that when using a controller pressing diagonal directions (up-right and up-left) completely stops horizontal movement.
This doesn't happen with keyboard controls and the inputs are correctly handled.
It's what's currently stopping me from playing the game right now
