you know how Indonesian this game is when there are:
- stray cats everywhere
- cimol seller
- so-called spiritual expert (that amulet seller on the street)
- keroncong music
- a mum is ready to smack her son for not doing his homework
- a guy sitting at the waroeng, reading a newspaper
- mums gossiping at the neighbourhood

A cute prologue for the upcoming game A Space For The Unbound. The story about a young girl who loves to write and dive in her fantasy world, she shares her story with her friend, a high school boy, the only one who listens and enjoys her story. One day they were sitting in their 'hideout' as she read to him, struggling to end this story she's been writing for a while. The young girl asked her friend to use the 'red book' which will allow you to travel to another dimension and eliminate whatever is 'bothering' your soul. The game has a supernatural element but was done nicely, especially with the beautiful pixel art which takes you back to the classic point&click games style.

The controls are good, there is a tutorial on how to do everything which is a good step most of the games forget to add. I loved the soundtracks, fitting the gameplay and atmosphere nicely, I hope the full game will be the same as this little demo we have.

Pros:
+Interesting story with a twist ending in this prologue.

I enjoyed the prologue so much and looking forward to playing the full game once it is out.

Okay so first of all I might be biased. This is another game developed by TogeProductions, and the main Developer is apparently MojikenStudios, both based in Indonesia. As an Indonesian myself, I'm proud to see talent in the gaming industry! It's better than I expected honestly, since, well, I'm ashamed to admit it, but many Indonesians mock their own country's products and have a negative bias toward it. That being said, this "mindset" of "imported products are better" might have influenced my first impressions, and that is why I am surprised. This game is better than I expected because even though my expectations for it were pretty high, it wasn't high enough. this game delivered more than I thought it would. Additionally, I'm quite sorry to say this, but I'm pretty sure "She and the Lightbearer" was also made by Mojiken Studios. While it wasn't a bad game, I've found the plot to be quite generic, and the antagonists to be a minus since they basically have no clear motives at all. So ASFTU seemed to be an improvement so far.

A space for the unbound made me feel. Even if it's just a prologue, even if it only took me around 30 minutes, even if it turns out that everything was a dream, I'm sure the full game could make me cry if the prologue made me feel things to this extent. Now, I gotta say, My current favorites for story-based games of all time are Night in the Woods, Wandersong, and Va-11 Hall-A, in order. The 3rd spot used to belong to Celeste before I found Va-11 Hall-A. I am willing to bet that once ASFTU comes out, it will easily take 3rd spot. Although there are some things that I find could be polished.

Time for a (+)&(-)
(+)Graphics. Pixel art style, sure, but it's still charming. Also, since my favorite story based games often feature simplistic, cartoon-like art of minor gradients+simple coloring (NitW, Wandersong, Gris), this was a nice change of pace for me, to play a pixel art game where you walk around.
(+)Sound and Music. The sound design is satisfying. Running and Walking have different sounds (as it should) , but I was surprised when I walked on what seemed to be a wooden bridge and there's an extra sound effect for that. It was better than what I expected. The music is great, because it accompanies the mood of the writing pretty well. For a game like this (again, i've mentioned the 2/3 games above) , the music is also important, and those games became my favorite also because they had outstanding music. ASFTU definitely did it's job right. Also, there's a keroncong style music in there. Of course I'm proud, even though I rarely listen to real keroncong music. And that "mixtape" still fits in the vibe the other tracks already made, so it was not an "out-of-place" inclusion.
(+)Concept. Just the game "synopsis" (is that what you call the text on the right side of the steam page? idk) was interesting to me. And the supernatural powers currently shown is basically inception-style problem-solving. I didn't need "mystery" or "supernatural occurences" but it's still a welcome addition to the plot element.

And, some additional thoughts/neutral points (i could put these under "-" but they're not a big problem):
(•)Writing. It's not bad and not much can be said yet since the demo only took me 30 mins to finish (a little longer than some other game demos actually). But when you try to use an item on an interact-able thing that doesn't do anything, our main character Atma, says "nothing happen". I'm pretty sure it should be "nothing happens". There might be other grammar issues I spotted but simply forgot about, but overall, it almost never happened, so I'm willing to give it a pass since it didn't take my immersion away.
(•)Things some people might not understand. It's nice to put Indonesian culture in there, but maybe more explanation would be fascinating. "Cimol" and "Keroncong" is definitely a name of a thing that does NOT need to be translated, but I was thinking "it might be nice if there's an in-game mini "encyclopedia" where people can learn more about these things, like, the definition of a Cimol, how it's commonly made and served, what it's made of, etc. . It would be a nice addition, but, it wasn't important to me that there wasn't anything like that.
(•)Controls. I understand the appeal of simple games where you can just get into it. But there are things I discovered that wasn't covered in the almost non-existent tutorial. If you boot up this prologue, you'll get a little intro then you play. Of course, it's intuitive to be able to walk with BOTH WASD and Arrow Keys, and that is what they implemented. Get outside and then you'll see a tutorial sign that tells you "hold shift to run". Great. But I've noticed that sometimes I run while simply walking around. Turns out if you double tap "left" or "right" and hold the second time, I think it also initiates a "run". Not that you have to include this in the tutorial or anything, I just always think of stuff like "wow, not everyone is a 'trier' in games and they definitely didn't know this".


Now, here's things that I really think fit better into an "important improvement" section:
(-)...cancel "interact"?. Pretty good, could be improved. Since this is a demo, you won't have 5 items at once, but the game shows 5 options when you try to interact with things, positioned like a half-circle which you can cycle through. It's nice, but I realized that there's no "Cancel" option. If you do want to cancel, the only way I know how is to pick a "nothing" option, which makes me wonder, what would happen if you DO have 5 items/options you can present to people filled up? how do you cancel then? and the problem with choosing "talk" is, well, you can't skip the dialogue you already read (not a big problem, just spam "next").
(-)...conversation log?. Speaking of dialogue, there is no "recent dialogue" history. I know it might be a pain to implement this in game, but sometimes I do miss "dialogue-text-boxes-that-only-appear-once". Adding a Conversation Log like Va-11 Hall-A or Coffee Talk might be nice, but to be honest, Night in the Woods also didn't have a conversation log, so maybe this wasn't that big of a deal either... except well, I'm more likely to share parts of dialogue during MY first playthrough if I already know it was a nice dialogue snippet in the first place. My first time playing night in the woods, sometimes I was like "oh wow this character said some good stuff" but too bad there's no dialogue history. I kinda have to play the whole game again to screenshot it and share it to social media since I missed the "start" of the conversation I want to showcase. This makes a convo log seem important to me.
(-)...yes, interact with... what?. If you can interact with a thing, a question mark appears on top of your head. Well, first of all, I think the "symbol" that appears on top of your head could have multiple variants depending on what it is you're doing. BUT, the fact that once you're in the "interact" menu there are scrollable options each with their own small icons, nevermind, it's fine. However, I still feel like the placement of the question mark could be better. There's a Cat you can pet in this demo, and when the question mark first appeared, since it was not on top of the cat but on top of your character, I thought choosing to "interact" means Atma will talk about how beautiful the sky is or comment on the fence in the background. I think the question mark placement could be put closer to whatever it is we are interacting with. But again, I understand if this is a pain to implement, it might be better to just scrap this suggestion too.

Verdict: Overall, great. And again, Excited for the full game.

+ sebagai sebagai penikmat musik gua SANGAT MENIKMATI soundtracknya, trus sound designnya cakep2 sehingga kita benar2 merasa terbawa dalam dunia ceritanya.
