Should I be in Wintersun at level 9?
The boss encounter seems to be unavoidable, the level 19 with the axes can snipe most of my supports before I can even hit him, the "dragon" doesn't help the situation.
I don't see anything on the map for me to do other then this though.

I got to 9th during the citadel of Drezen fight, and I don't think I could make it to Wintersun before 10 or 11.
There was a trick to kill the barbarian chief in the beta, maybe it still works. You move a tough character next to him who has the feat combat reflexes (and the DEX for it). Then he kills himself from the attacks of opportunity your character gets, since he doesn't have the feat to avoid them on ranged attacks. I had a fighter with DEX 22 (buffed, but allows for 6 attacks when he starts throwing), who defeated him in one go. When I say tough, it means the hitpoints and a high attack bonus. When doing attacks of opportunity, you always use your highest bonus, which is more efficient than a fullround attack in this one special case.

Not really, there should be an area close to Drezen (barely North West) that'll have some Ash Giants in it, it will still be a difficult fight given your level, but will give you some XP and push you closer to 10. Be warned that going West will make you encounter a Scaly Monstrosity, you don't need to be able to kill it (and won't be anywhere near strong enough), but you're going to NEED Communal Resist Fire & Communal Immunity Fire to survive the breath attack, as it's going to hit for like 100 damage AoE

It runs away if it doesn't immediately wipe the party*

I'll be sure to head up there and try to level, thanks.

I'll try to make a bee line for him, I assumed he had that feat as most things that are big and scary have everything I the bloody game lol

Use Greater Invisibility if you have it, pretty sure he can't see invisibility, although the dragon can

I've just managed to hit 10, going to try again, hopefully I don't get auto attacked into oblivion.

I've also used repurpose on the druid that buffs everyone.

At level 10 I killed them, the quest bugged out for me though so ♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game I guess
HTakara Sep 7, 2021 @ 7:16am
The fight is a ♥♥♥♥♥ without buff stacking to hell. So I recommend level 10 the minimal.
Lepia Oct 5, 2021 @ 9:42am
I did it at lv 10, It was a really hard fight, basically spread your people out and keep your supports way way back. And buff to hell and pray for luck, but that standard for every fight.
