There was a trick to kill the barbarian chief in the beta, maybe it still works. You move a tough character next to him who has the feat combat reflexes (and the DEX for it). Then he kills himself from the attacks of opportunity your character gets, since he doesn't have the feat to avoid them on ranged attacks. I had a fighter with DEX 22 (buffed, but allows for 6 attacks when he starts throwing), who defeated him in one go. When I say tough, it means the hitpoints and a high attack bonus. When doing attacks of opportunity, you always use your highest bonus, which is more efficient than a fullround attack in this one special case.
Not really, there should be an area close to Drezen (barely North West) that'll have some Ash Giants in it, it will still be a difficult fight given your level, but will give you some XP and push you closer to 10. Be warned that going West will make you encounter a Scaly Monstrosity, you don't need to be able to kill it (and won't be anywhere near strong enough), but you're going to NEED Communal Resist Fire & Communal Immunity Fire to survive the breath attack, as it's going to hit for like 100 damage AoE
It runs away if it doesn't immediately wipe the party*
Use Greater Invisibility if you have it, pretty sure he can't see invisibility, although the dragon can
