burning city/black library question

hey guys,

i just started my 2. playthrough.

here is the issue: when i enter the black library, the guys on the pyre are already burning, no way to save them any more (during my 1. playthrough the guys were just sitting there, but the fire wasnt burning yet, so i could make them join the crusade).

am i doing smth wrong here ? thx

its possible to both save them and clear the tower if you are fast enough. Cant really do more than one or 2 rest shorter then a day though. Just do the bare minumum in the market place and then go to blackwing lib and after that you go to the tower

You have to hit the library before Defender's Inn gets attacked for them not to be on fire when you get there.

First get woljif and finish his quest line and rush to library. The time the tavern attacked is kinda random but i dunno for sure. Just don't waste your time by resting too much on world map

You have 3 days before the attack happens. That means 3 rests, assuming you do not rest for multiple periods for some reason.

I read that doing the tower quest is supposed to delay the attack and give you more time, but I have no way to confirm.

Hitting the tower does give you more time. I saw that firsthand. At least another day or so.

That said, I prefer hitting the tower after the inn gets attacked. Mainly due to funny dialogue between Daern and the main guy there.

For some odd reason i manage to avoid the attack on the inn completely on one of my chars but i have no idea how.

You can just attack the grey garrison early if you're quick with completing all necessary errands.

ah yeah thats is true as well.
If you manage to avoid it Irabeth gives you xp,the flail and some random scrolls.
