Favorite chapter to free-roam in

What's your favorite point in the game where you stop doing all missions and just free roam forever? Hunting and doing challenges and stuff

I liked playing at the very end of the game for a while, where I'd completed everything possible. But now I am free roaming right before starting the mission where you have to go to Thomas Downes' ranch to see him.

I think this point is the best for free roaming. Right before starting that mission.

You can free roam right after you leave Colter but weapons are story locked so as far as you can go in the story before you end up in the jungle. At least as far as it takes to get the Rolling Block.

I'd say the second half of chapter 2 with Arthur having access to both holsters and the fishing rod. The overall atmosphere of the second chapter is quite calm compared to the following ones.

Once I reach the swamp camp close to Saint Denis. I think most of the random missions unlock by then. Also free roaming as Marston is legit too.

The run down mansion from Plague is probably where I did most of my hunting. But ASH is right. The pace of the story gets more urgent with each chapter so breaking away too much puts a pause button on that.

OP is literally asking at which point in the story you'd stop doing missions. Might wanna stay clear of such posts if you don't want spoilers. Plus, the game's been out for a few years now, discussing the story parts doesn't really fall into spoiler territory at this point.

Yeah then op has like 17 hours and barely any achievements. Telling how game ends at this point is not the best idea.
