Game’s still completely broken on steam deck
Most of my gametime is me tinkering with settings.

Any time I tinker with one setting, it causes a cascading effect. I get soft locked out of changing any other settings (I can only click “back,” and not “accept.” Joystick, trackpads, dpad, and touchscreen dont let me make another selection).

Further, any time I quit and re-enter the game, the hud completely disappears. I’ve heard that this is because I might have lost internet access? And the only way to fix this is by creating a new character, and re-loading? So if my internet drops at any point, I lose any ability to functionally play that file?

Can someone please advise on best steam deck settings and how not to incur more issues? And sorry, how does a game whose online components can create irreversible bugs not have an offline only mode?

I’ve downloaded and uninstalled three times so far. Can someone help me figure out how to play this without wanting to put my fist through a wall?

Please and thank you!

I use these settings which a dev posted on here a while ago, game runs perfect. Before you do this make sure to "reset" your graphics setting to default apply those then change to these:

Steam Deck Settings:
Full screen
Res - 720
FSR - On
Quality
V sync on
FPS limit - 40
gamma - whatever you want
fov - whatever you want
Ambient Occlusion - On
Shadows - Off
Post Processing - On
Res Quality - 90
AA - Mid
Texture - Mid
Post processing - low
Shadows - NA
Foliage Mid
View - Mid
FX - Low

Thanks so much! Will give it a try once i re-install.

Mind if I ask if you’ve been able to address the disappearing HUD? This is really driving me crazy.

I do agree the performance could be better. Theres large fps dips even with fsr...

Well, I have nearly 50 hours on deck with no problems. I have the basic settings with basic steam deck resolution on a vanilla non-oled first generation steam deck.

Yes there are fps drops in a few areas, but nothing serious. Tbf - that's far far away from completely broken. Would say the problems you are describing are definitely on your side, maybe try resetting your deck, check for flawed disk/RAM whatever.

Edit: Did you play on PC first? I remember there was an issue with not being able to reset the settings to default and buttons were not responding and stuff. I had this too, because my first one or two hours I played on my potato PC. But with one of the patches the bug got fixed for me, I could reset graphic settings on deck and everthing worked fine.

I dunno, same thing happened again, and I videoed it. Game started normally but after I quit, the HUD disappeared. Then I tried changing the graphic settings I lost the ability to change them back. Same exact thing.

Unbelievable.

The resolution issue will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

Hey, thanks for the advice, I will give it a shot again once I decide to re-download it.

Can you give any advice (or point me in the direction thereof) to how to deal with the disappearing HUD? Because that’s been the pervasive problem since I bought the game.

And I’m also real dumb, so if you wanna break down exactly what I should do to make the game run properly on SD, would really appreciate it.
