Pointless?
I've put a lot of hours and effort into my game, but finding out Nightmare mode can only be selected on a new save sounds awful? basically anything I've done or will do now on this save is irrelevant as I would want nightmare mode rewards for 100%?

I've got 200+ hours on my current save. Can't fathom why I would abandon that, just for a higher difficulty and a few new/modified pieces of gear.

Minimum, I would have to be able to carry over my existing item inventory, including cosmetics. No chance I would again grind all those dyes, pets and mounts (not to mention all my housing items) without an extremely significant reason. Nightmare difficulty would basically have to be a whole new game.

It's strange that the new Nightmare mode, which forces us to restart, seems to go against the original idea that game difficulty (normal, heroic etc) doesn’t affect loot drops but simply challenges players and lets them play how they want. Why not create a separate Nightmare mode where difficulty can't be changed mid-game, alongside the new Nightmare mode for existing save files that allows players to adjust the difficulty as they choose? This way, everyone can enjoy the best of both worlds

Because morons requested better rewards for higher difficulty and this is the abominable result.

Nail on the head. I don't even care about the new gear, I just want to keep exploring my current save - only with harder enemies.

This has been suggested and the CM on discord even passed the suggestion directly to the developers but no official word on if they will do it.

they should make nightmare mode available on new game+ rather than a brand new save.

Thanks, saved me a trip to the discord to see if it'd been talked about there yet :egglove:

yeah, i'm new to the game and was really enjoying levelling up and grinding for better loot, until i read that the nightmare mode will not allow me to use the current save.. like you said, seems pointless to continue playing until nightmare is released..

Totally agree

It's an alternate way to play the game. Players have told us after finishing the game they want another reason to go back and replay it from zero, so we gave it to them.

Could we get some kind of option to enable cosmetic item carryover, at minimum? I would love a reason to replay the game, but that item loss is currently my only reason not to - and it's a very strong one for me.

Appreciate your reply.

Many of us would also love to keep playing our current save files, experiencing the new difficulty and loot. Is there a way to accommodate both options?

Perhaps one mode could allow difficulty changes on the fly, like it is now, while another mode could lock the difficulty (maybe with an achievement tied to it as a reward for those who choose it).

This way, everyone can be satisfied.

would'nt upgrading your current game to the next difficulty be better?

Rather than catering to a percentage who dont work ungodly amount of hours and have a lot of spare time.
Feel like im now going to miss out/punished because i just dont have the time to pour in the same amount of hours i already have done, in to a another account.
