Didn’t even know people stream this
Those kind of comments are always funny to me :D its kinda in the same boat with "they chose to make more content instead of fixing bugs" as if doing one takes away ressources from the other.
Just think about it for 5 seconds, what have Programmers, Artists and Writers(those that make content and patches) todo with Marketing / streaming section ???
That fewer people play CK3 only means they have sold comparatively fewer copies (which they have).
Personally, I am in no hurry to buy CK3, after playing it for two weekends on a laptop: the game obviously needs some serious work to get into good shape, and the UI stinks.
As an aside, I can't understand how anyone can play HOI4 with as rock stupid as the AI is in that game, unless they are play only against other people.
Worst AI I have ever seen in a released strategy game.
Steam Charts:
Crusader Kings 2 ~ 4800 peak last 24 h (and it's free to play...)
Crusader Kings 3 ~ 14100 peak last 24 h
And for other games EU4, HOI4, Stellaris they are other games with other game design (other time lines), in all of them you lead a country not a person/family. So other kind of players were interested in them.
EU IV: (barely making to 16k peak a year from release)

CK 3? Yeah it had a huge drop but that will increase over the time:
Last 30 Days 12,925.3 27,116
October 2020 20,782.2 46,009
September 2020 48,312.5 - 98,474
I won't bother with HoI IV you can check that yourself. Actually it's barely even beating CK3 when you look at play count now, but let's go back into past, shell we?
November 2016 4,981.2 9,212
October 2016 5,330.6 9,807
September 2016 5,860.1 10,964
August 2016 6,268.5 10,376
July 2016 8,959.5 15,776
June 2016 2,326.1 40,623

By this statics CK 3 is in reality more popular and fares better in comparsion to the two titles player count, as you can see HoI IV had it the worse for a half year and more
Only 9% of the total reviews are negative - that says something too. It's not perfect by any means, but we should look at the whole picture if we want to be objective.
Critical success, very solid sales for a Grand Strategy title, and a lot of people playing.
Way less than older competing Pardox titles.
I'm playing HOI4 and for the last 2 month, I've been waiting for 1.2 patch CK3.
I think HOI4 is more popular because is more a strategic game than CK3 + the game is much much shorter. It takes me more time to learn the Focus tree and to plan than what I end up doing.
While I'm playing CK3 I have to pay more attention.
Love both games!
There's a vocal, loud minority of people who hate it, which is their right. But most people love the game, and it's only going to get better with more free and paid content. I honestly can't wait
