Linux please.
Offering my support/preference for Linux!

I saw on your sticky topick that you're looking into using FNA (which does seem to have some clear benefits over XNA at this point, including being more "modern") and through it, releasing on Linux and MacOSX! I think this is an excellent idea for players of all platforms, as you seem to agree given your showcasing of benefits of FNA with respect to controller types and whatnot in the sticky. I know that the primary develope behind the open source FNA runtime has been a significant force in porting games to Linux, including garnering attention for high profile titles like Stardew Valley. I believe he can be employed by contract as well.

Linux is very much my gaming platform of preference and though I maintain a multi-boot environment and use WINE etc for some circumstances... native support for Linux drives my purchasing decisions in a significant way. Owlboy looks to be a charming, polished title and I am very pleased to see the developers have put serious thought into the porting process, so I'd very much like to reward them for having Linux in the works. The only real question is when and how to purchase.

I don't mind purchasing at launch via something like the Humble Store, ensuring that my user-agent shows me on Linux (hopefully). Alas, until a Linux version is released on Steam, any purchase directly will likely be "counted" for Windows, lest I basically wait to play the game until Linux is ready etc. All of these issues are a bit frustrating and really under report the amount of people who are making Linux-based purchasing decisions; unless you buy and play it the exact "right" way, automated metrics will likely count it for another platform. Times like this I really wish there could be a way to flag my Steam account to say "Linux is my primary platform, it is for this platform that I make my purchasing decisions and game sales should "count" towards it", even if I have to end up playing via WINE, virtualization, dual-booting or any other method that will show up to metrics as being Windows based, at times.

I very much look forward to Linux support for Owlboy and commend the developers for their investigations into porting thus far. I can only hope it comes to fruition!

I would definitely get this game if it was on Linux. So please make it real :)
If there was a GNU/Linux port I would not be hesitating about buying it.
