Interesting relics for surprising knights
I think that everybody who has played this game had found some relics. Some obviously useful, some obviously not. Relics with like Burning Discharge, teleport or surprise damage are obvious... However what I am really interested, is some not initally clear relics, that unexpectedly shine with particular knight.

I will provide an example

Eye of Argona for Mordred (or his mother as she also has Chain Lightning). Or "let's turn this Defender into Arcanist" ring. As i usually start with lightning spells, first bonus to unharmed enemies always applies. But because both Thunderstrike and Chain Lightning bypass armor, increaced damage to unarmored targets also works! 65 damage on 4 targets from Defender is easy!

And another example, now full set
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2828405582
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2828405660

Melee arcanist setup - remember all that staves or artifacts of +damage on enemies in 4 tiles for arcanists - seemingly useless because arcanists are intended to be far away? Well, they are perfect for Faerie Knight, as he is close combat arcanist who teleports into battle instead of out of it. Initial backstab-cleave for 100+ damage on 2-3 targets is easy! Polish with 1 AP 75% dmg Whirlwind analogue.

So, what have you found?

P.S. Correction - I rechecked, apparently increased damage to unarmored targets does not work with armor-bypassing spells. Not that it matters much due to Mordred having Stigma hex to melt armor.

I don't really have pictures for them because they were of some previous campaigns but:

2 handed weapon with 50% lightning damage (Wild Magic) : This is absolutely insane as it scales with rage so all what you have to do is stack some rage from kills do 7 spells (or 10 idr) and bam lightning kills ALL enemies

2 relics with ignore 50% armour break: Invincible Defender - I could literally tank on very hard the whole screen and when I finish the mission I would only lose 1 or 2 armour

You didn't mention Ice Wall:

You can do over 100,000% damage. And you could even do more than that with the right consumables. The devs should nerf Ice Wall.

Are you talking about the post game weapon available from the Soul Merchant? If so, that's a one-handed weapon.

I have found an interesting lvl 10 staff that i still use on lvl 24 - 25. Every 8 spell casts it makes your DoTs deal their remaining damage instantly.

As you can see on screen one i need to cast 1 more spell and it will activate.

And on screen 2 you can see the results of said activation:

Sorry my memory failed me, as I said it was long ago. It is actually a level 10 relic item and it isn't even a weapon lol

It's all good. I was impressed by your post. And you just told everyone how to make poison debuffs effective. If you talk, I'll listen.

"Relics with like Burning Discharge, teleport or surprise damage are obvious..." - quote from head post.

This is exactly Burning Discharge I talked about in it. Burning Discharge item on Merlin is obvious! Hell, i even recently used Merlin in company with Balan who held Burning Discharge Axe! It was interesting, through i failed to use it correctly due to interaction with teleport on kill throwing Balan into battle. But either way it is obvious...

What does "Ice Wall is enemy for Rage" bug has in common with question about interesting relics for surprising knights?

Yes, this is better example.

The Ice Wall exploit will become a relic - once the devs fix it. Does that count?

Otherwise, the Sign of Epona will help your champion rampage:

You don't want to make the Faerie Knight your death dealer. The Faerie Knight is fun because he's versatile, but he'll never be as valuable as a champion or an arcanist.
iacs Jul 1, 2022 @ 3:15am
Depends on items) With what i have he is tankier than champion, has inbuilt teleport and deals more damage, than champion before rage starts to overflow.

About Ice wall exploit becoming a relic, well, it would work then.

You like to tinker around with items. That's cool. Maybe there is some hidden advantage somewhere... to be found if you turn over every stone. But you just told me the Faerie Knight could do 100+ damage to 2-3 targets. Big deal. Once. Then what? You're missing the bigger picture. Nothing beats Rage. If you wait a turn and kill two enemies with an AoE attack, your champion can be doing hundreds of points of damage with each swing and have maybe 13 AP left and some movement AP as well. The Faerie Knight is like Lancelot. Sure, you can do some solid initial damage, but Rage takes over after the first few kills. Pure champions are superior damage dealers. Superior, not necessarily more fun. As you can see in my last screenshot, the Faerie Knight has a seat at my round table.

Most party configurations can work in this game if you are properly leveled, skilled, and equipped - but there are superior classes, knights, and parties. It's hard to sell the Faerie Knight as a damage dealer.

I'm glad you made this thread because rusty_agm made exceptional relic recommendations.

I personally treat rage skill like one huge bug - it really looks like it was created for early game when killing 2-3 enemies by champion is normal, but then devs forgot to add damage cap on it to handle situations when enemies are plentiful and champions get Whirlwind and second strike after first kill.

Rage is overpowered.

Rage should probably follow a logarithmic growth curve with diminishing returns instead of an exponential growth curve that goes to infinity and beyond.

The fundamental problem is stacking. The devs should do a thorough review of the skills, enchantments, and consumables that stack forever. Start with Blessed Weapon.

Fould Ashes of Fire Giant - brilliant artifact that gives additional burn and is perfect with Aine's Undiyng Blaze staff to generate insane burn DoT. Unortunately for it, this is Fomorian Endgame so level 15 Ashes of Harbringer giving 6 damage while disengaged and 1 AP for first kill is much better, allowing Merlin to do more direct damage and cast another spell in round, easing downside of seasonal staff. Just no amount of burn beats dealing quadruple damage with Falling Star and oneshoting Fomorian(
kbiz Jul 17, 2022 @ 11:58am
I wonder if there is a perfect relic set for Merlin to maximize his burn damage?
iacs Jul 17, 2022 @ 3:55pm
Ashes of Fire Giant + Aine's Undiyng Blaze + some ring that inreaces burn damage, never found good relic one for that. Axe with Burning Discarge to activate it all at once can be held by any champion, their duty would be mostly holding it.
