I've got both and for me they are both fun, each has some pros and cons as to the game play; script / storyline; playability on PC, XBox etc.
My honest advice would be - if you can afford to get both then do so, if you (like me ) can only afford to get one at a time - then get Prototype 1 first.
Like I said they are both good games but for different reasons for different people or as me mum used to say "different strokes for different folks". Don't forget some will say its hard to load and sometimes any game is hard to load, Just play for fun and fun ye shall have. Take care
As for which is better, personally I prefer PROTOTYPE 2. The first game's story, characters and voice acting are utter garbage, but it has a little bit better gamplay. The second game has much better characters, real voice acting and a half-decent story, but the gameplay is a bit of a step back. I think the second game also has more content, but I'm not completely sure about that. It also Steam achievements, if you're into that sort of thing.
