It's actually less of an issue with the new Spear aspect since you can heal up pretty easily the first biome.
Pierced butterfly I have used quite a lot before, not so much now. First, it demands of You to use it all the time, wich is not so good. If You switch it, You lose damage bonus, rendering Your hard work of not getting hit wasted. Also, with tight deadline You do not have the luxury of taking Your time, even for +40-ish % damage increase.
Cosmic egg is phenomenal. Not only it increases rarity of boons but makes it free to enter Chaos gates, and those runs are generally can get quite broken, especially if You, let's say, stack increses of damage to certain damage type, such as stacking cast damage bonuses, while using Poseidon's sword and having Poseidon's cast + secondary shot + legendary for +3 ammo from Artemis.
What I do not appreciate is broken spearpoint, as it is nerfed quite badly, and generally I would say that Athena's boon of the similar sort does just more job that the spearpoint.
Nyx's one I am being on the fence about, although I wonder if maybe it ignores lasting consequences. In such case it would be a vital source of healing during max lasting consequences run.
Doesn't that mean they do absolutely nothing after you get that boon for the rest of the stage?
That seems kind of lack luster to me.
I feel like they should have at least some persistent effect. Maybe they cause all boons to be more likely of the chosen god?
It feels bad to have a single effect and then nothing. I suppose they give a rarity boost, but that only matters if you happen to find that god again.
The key thing is that after you've accepted a boon from four different gods, you don't get any more gods. Locking a god in early means you, statistically, get more boons from that god and have full control over your playstyle.
Leaving it to chance may see you lock in a god who is of little use to your current weapon or playstyle, especially in early rooms which feature just one exit. You can get around this with rerolls but it's a lot of darkness invested before you really have those to spare.
Thanks for the info!
I'd still like some kind of ongoing effect for the god keepsakes, but this does make them seem more valuable.
There is an ongoing effect, though it is suptle. Apart from guaranteeing you a boon from you favorite god, the keepsakes also boost chances of getting rare boons from the god in question.
