Why mixed reviews? Was it really that much better?

Bought the game a few days ago. It's awesome.

Censorship? Some of the missions are INSANE with the "evidence" you find - never seen such brutal stuff in a video game before.
What is being censored that wasn't before? As far as dismemberment, yea that should probably be in the game but it's still pretty graphic. As far as some nudity, who cares. Also keep in mind if the "evidence" you find in Valley of Dolls was 100% uncensored and realistic, who tf would want to play the game? Not to mention it would be literally illegal.

Graphics downgrade? OK well the game looks great to me and runs smooth.

Bad AI? Seems fine to me. How exactly was the AI changed, and why? I assume changing AI has nothing to do with console release like censorship and graphics did?

Is that it? Some nudity and dismemberment gone, graphics downgrade, and worse AI?

In my opinion, it's not only that. The game is broken. Freezing in loading screens, crashes to desktop, stuttering when a suspect shoots you, network problems, hard difficult is so unreal, and a lot of issues. That's why I put a negative review.

I'm glad someone can enjoy the game at least . My friends and I couldn't. And oh, here is the best issue, if you uninstall the game, you can loose all your progress in missions. 500 games in my Steam library and this is the one that can do that. Not even Ubisoft lmao.

you shouldmt be playing a game that literally centers around Armed Police Tacticians who 9/10 have to shoot to kill in many cases,
Go play Palworld, or Palia,
but dont come to a game that literally requires shooting and death and realism, and cry that you cant handle it

What you talking about? They made it less brutal for console release with M rating right? Nobody here is saying they want censorship. You're not "broadening the point" you're just arguing a strawman.

The console update was the most egregious example of "two steps forward but two steps back", which has been a trend. I could understand why someone new to the game might be confused by the community right now.

Even if we were to completely ignore the censorship, there is still a lot to be said regarding bugs. There's a reason people are downgrading their versions of the game and no one is doing this just because they want to see Gerard Scott's ♥♥♥♥.

Well yea buy a game and then have it later updated with censorship and bugs - I can understand giving it a thumbs down.
I haven't encountered any bugs and I never played the old version of the game so to me it's crazy this has mixed reviews. If it released today out of nowhere as is, pretty sure it would be positive.

It's not really about the censorship. Well maybe a bit. I believe the people are more pissed because they felt betrayed

The bigger issue is how they make the some levels less dark such as twisted nerve the removed the kid having a seizure and replaced it with sleeping. They took some impact from levels that were dark to just another basic crime. That's the true censorship that people are mad at. Nudity? minor. Dismemberment? minor. The dark parts no one wants seen? that the point of the game, show the brutality and darkness of the world through the eyes of SWAT.

For the graphics some levels got much more impacted than others, search up some comparisons and its like they just tore half the the textures, lighting, and models out of the level. Not that every level is effected as heavily as some others, some I noticed no change. But before the last patch there was a huge problem with shadows being super ugly and Extremely pixelated, still kind of are too.

Another thing is the game got increasingly unstable for me, I can only play 3-4 rounds without the game crashing, Never had a mod installed. Uninstalled stuff anyway tried to fix it on my end but to no avail.

Those are the main reasons why it's review score dropped. People came here to play a Swat game with a dark undertone. They made the experience of that worse for many, so people are upset at that.



On a side note I hate the AI, Hard AI be like I heard you for a split second let me react, takes hostage while facing the wrong way and doesn't turn around to even look at me, they kinda just let you take them down. some animations are stupid like the gun drop animation, every single time you try to press the shout button they freeze up then slowly lower their gun while pointing it at you. whats lethal force and whats not also is unclear as many animations have bad timing for the switch. I had a suspect start lowering the gun, just to quick draw it, when put him down the game is like, no he was surrendering unnecessary use of lethal force!!! Its that nonsense, or they just drop you with 2 shots immediately. its just better to shoot on sight every enemy on the map then to arrest them.

They also toned down some depictions of child sexual exploitation material. Anybody complaining about specifically that is probably a creep.

This isn't an extreme game and ESRB still demanded for cuts. This game is the proof that ESRB range is very oppressive. I don't mind what mom censorship said is ok for an M rating, we're on PC and we deserve the real game in its AO version.

you simply don´t know how the game was before the last update.

first graphics, it looked much better with way less graphics glitches and downgrades.

second friendly AI, they had less bugs, now they get stuck and don´t execute commands more often, they also behave in even more stupid ways than before during breaching and securing rooms.

plus other inconsistencies and old and new bugs with enemies AI, animations, etc.

on top of all this, the censorship, in short it was a better game before the update.

the only way you can see it yourself is to look for the previous version and play that for a while, then compare.

the issue is not only censorship (still bad enough) but that the game didn´t really improve at all, instead it became worse than before and this after months and months without patches.
