Binding of Isaac's engine is terrible!!
I had a run with D20, Epic Fetus, full of red hearts + ~10 soul hearts and I was playing with my dice in the arcade. It was so so sooooo OP. Then the game were just crashed. Why? This engine is so slow, laggy and always stops working when it's loading a bigger map...I can't believe this.

The game is made pretty poorly made overall:

-Getting hurt by bombs whose blasts dont even touch the character
-Bosses living 10-12 hits after thier health meter is depleted (even with you having damage upgrades)
-Enemies still hurting you if they jump over you
-Enemies that REALLY slide into you only when you are near them. not just a little bit, but damn near an inch or two
-Over sensitive locked doors causing you to use a key when you barely brush up against it
-Random invisible snags in the environment that cause your character to not move
-Bogus hitboxes where your tears pass through enemies' sprites, but the slightest touch from them damages you

deal with it

It's a little bit hard to deal with it, when I can't even play the game, cuz it's always crashes.

it was made in flash, and the designer of the game said he's done with flash after this game.

maybe i can just shrug it off easily since i'm a developer and crashes happen (i've had some pretty awesome runs in this game ruined by crashes), but they literally packed flash with as much as it could handle. its a technical limitation with flash.

deal with it.

That's really weird though, I haven't had a single crash while playing this game, and I'm about 170 hours in already.

It might be the game getting stuck right before starting the Depths, which is the most common for me at least, if this happens I just tap ctrl-alt-supt, and start the task manager and wait until the game starts working again, it sometimes turns black and white though, which is pretty common but is just the cutscene.

Never had it crash, but it slows down a lot, which is really weird for a PC that can handle Borderlands 2 just fine. Flash sucks.

Its being re-made, not on flash, for those exact reasons.

The game is made on flash, which is relatively unstable with a game the size of BoI. Even on a high-end computer, even if the game doesn't crash, it will slow down. The game's developer (as someone above mentioned) knows this and plans to re-release the game with another Wrath of the Lamb sized expansion next year, but on a whole new engine made to withstand the game.

If anyone is getting lagging out of this game, try lowering your graphics settings and using the task manager to put the process priority in Realtime.

The bugfix is on it's way, gonna have to buy it though.

This game is probably the buggiest game I truly love. Flash is terrible. Oh well.

Pro tip: Do not skip load screens with spacebar.
That just crashes everything.

There is so much wrong with everything you just whined on about but I'll save the precious moments in my life and only address the first: Bombs explode, they do not in real life, or in any video game ive seen, need to physically touch you to cause damage. That is all.

Though they already are trying to completely rebuild the game in another code, I think the main problem is that flash uses "cookies" to save data on your computer. I don't know how much this is related, but I could imagine that the more data you save (like finding secrets, stuff, and all that), the more power does flash need to keep remembering them. I've seen a lot examples where people play until a point where the game gets slow and lags, while it ran perfectly just until that painful point. So if this is the majority of the problems in the game, I don't know if they just could make the game interact with steam, instead of overloading flash. In that way, they don't have to re-code it all. As for the rest of the bugs, maybe things where just meant in that way, and maybe, it is just the programmers fault (No offense, Himsl). Another thing I noticed was that windows gave me a message that "A script caused my flash player 10 to run slowly". (Not exact message). I have in these later days updated my flash player more frequently than actually playing the game, so I wonder why the game uses version 10 instead of 11. And then I read, that the game uses the "internet explorer's flash". I am not certain if it is true, but I have updated my flash player, using IE, searched for "flash player 10" on my computer (nothing found), and I am completely empty for ideas, and tired as hell, cuz' it's past 4:00 in the midnight. Hope you know something that I don't.
