Start: encouraging swapping duo partners each week (using the rules, somehow?)
I feel if we just do speedruns we'll just attract the same few players and a couple new ones, period.
An event not focused on speedruns is also a great idea! The speed usually comes from knowing a map well, so maybe some new good maps would be helpful
Exactly my thoughts.
I'd love a new maping contest like that one we had almost a year ago. It was great fun participating in that and it produced SO many amazing maps.
