Wells Freeze?
Has anyone else noticed that, against all common sense, wells freeze in the winter? One of the advantages of a [real] well is that you are digging down below the frost line and the ground stays a fairly constant temperature. (reason for digging a root cellar too)
I built my town near a stream, now THAT should freeze solid in the winter (and does not) but the well should stay open. (make sure to close the lid when not in use though)

As confused as you. Other than the botanist, winter as absolutly no impact on jobs...

100% of the time in winter if I have a person assigned to the well it gives me the no resources icon, I have empty buckets in storage, I don't know why else, only have the problem in winter.

Seems silly to ask - But did you try to manually draw water from the well in this Frozen time period to confirm that is the issue?

I've just hired my first Water dude, but I've had a well for over two years and drew water on the first day of every season with no problem.

Edit - Except the bug where if you mix diff % Buckets, they all drop to the worst % just because. Gotta Keep'em Separated.

Hmm, no, never used the well, town is right next to a stream, I just drink there. I figured I'd assign a person to the well to keep buckets full for the town. Seems to work fine, except in winter.

In WHAT storage did you put the empty buckets? Food or resource storage?
Empty buckets need to be stored in the resource storage building so your NPCs can find them.
Could you please check that and report back if this solved your issue?

If not, please upload your current save so we can take a look at it. Just to be sure you didn't stumble across a bug.

How to find your save and share it with us is explained here:

I'm not sure I can spare an NPC just to get water yet when I can do 9 buckets or so in a single shot once a season. Maybe later on, I will. I've never seen a hint of the well not working in winter. No ice on any lakes or marshes either. Below freezing is not modelled in the water anywhere. Snow is the only such clue that its cold, but that can exist at temperatures where bodies of water don't freeze over. The washtubs would be the first to go if it was modelled.

Has anyone here even taken a look at the actual temperature on the map? Winter is between -1 celcius and 1 celcius. There should not even be snow on the ground since it would melt during day time...

I think the lowest i've seen was -8.6C or something. But not like i've paid much attention so i don't even know what's the max.

And it doesn't even mean streams would freeze with very low temp. They're running water, and wide enough that it shouldn't freeze with the mild weather conditions of the valley
