RetroArch

RetroArch coming soon to Steam!
We are softlaunching RetroArch on Steam two weeks from now.

* It will be free. No DRM, no restrictions.
* Expect a barebones release at first that is basically identical to the version you are able to download on our website. Once the initial release is done, we can start catering to Steam's advanced features.
* We want to release on Windows first and then in the upcoming weeks expand to Linux and Mac as well.
* While RetroArch is in its barebones state, there will be no Steamworks SDK usage of any kind.

Are the advanced steam features stuff like workshop for cores/themes?
Is Steam Cloud one of the features you plan to support?
Can't wait!

Megaton! :lunar2019coolpig:
I feel like you should charge at least a few bucks for a Steam version that auto-updates, but thanks regardless! This is pretty amazing.
I love you

Thanks! It'll be nice to have a version that's automatically kept up to date. The online updater can get a lot, but that doesn't catch everything in updates.
This is amazing. Don't tell the devs but I would have gladly paid $60 for this.

Yeah, wish there was a 'pay what you want' feature on Steam where you could pay either $0 or any amount you wanted, but alas, that would have been the only other feasible option. So free it was instead.

well, not quite ... some devs of free software decided to add "support DLC" for their stuff ... like $1, $5, $10 etc. etc. ... it's essentially empty DLC, it doesn't have to give anyone any additional functions

it would be a one-time only thing, but that might actually be better because someone can start with the $1 one ... and then also buy the other ones ... so yeah, that's definitely a possibility! :)

You could offer several tiers of donation "DLCs" if you want instead, with the store pages for the DLCs stating that those are purely just donations and that they don't offer anything for the actual "Game.

This would also allow us to permanently bind the game to our accounts even after uninstalling it, just make sure you offer a $1 tier, that's very likely going to make lots of people buy it simply to permanently bind the App to their steam account.
