One of them dies. The choice is yours but everyone picks Del. So 99% sure that Del's death is canon making the choice meaningless.

Yes but seeing how he was a robot he can probably be rebuild into a new body. Not sure if the AI can be rebuilt but Baird can fix anything, you just gotta give him the right parts.

JD has to be alive and in lead in Gears6. "Once again a fenix rises to fight" they say while trying to kill Marcus's bloodline off and barely focusing on JD or Marcus at all.

State of the world video. Gears of War 4 trailers. Gears 5 not only butchers GoW lore but is also quite disrespectful towards the Fenix family and fans. Don't get me wrong, i like the game. Gameplay is fun and I've put over 300h into horde and versus on both Xbox and Steam but I don't like what they did storywise.
