Not only is it faster than a clean install. Reinstalling/Clean install may not work because you still have to download and thus, get corrupted data again during DL. If you validate it will find the file(s), if any, that don't match the server (corrupted) and will redownload them alone thus greatly reducing the chance of corruption again. Since about a year ago steam's new patching system will keep redownloading via validation if the file keeps corrupting until it matches.
If you were using mods. Then there could be a mod/cybertweak/engine files causing corruption and need to be wiped manually from the game folder, or use some nexus mods that wipe modded files from install path.
( never use mod )
It's all done and i can't launch the game :

Introduced a mechanism for the detection of mismatched or corrupted scripts which are caused by outdated mods or file corruption during update/installation. It will now show a descriptive error message and close the game instead of resulting in a crash
