Netrunner build help
I never used quickhacks but I've wanted to try a net runner stealth build. I've watched some videos and I see this trace mechanic in the game, can someone explain this? My understanding seems to be that if any quickhack that doesn't say untraceable gets used on any one enemy, a trace starts and will keep going indefinitely unless you kill everyone in time?

Can you kill the person tracing you to stop it? Is there a way to never start a trace to begin with?

Thanks

Memory Wipe however does that, but only with tier 4, which you can get when you reached level 20. You also need a tier 4 cyberdeck for that, which you can obtain by upgrading at a ripperdoc. At that point, you will want to use System Collapse as well, an ultimate quickhack that is automatically untraceable.

Until you reach level 20, you can only prevent tracing by simply running away. If you get far enough, the tracing stops. I recommed you distract enemies and then do a takedown from behind. Do use combat quickhacks, if you think you can face the music, but you will need a weapon as well, because if you can't kill all enemies before they found you, things will get rough.

Yes you can kill the person tracing you and you should be able to see where it is. I remember there was a talent also where you could upload a hack on the tracer which then spread to all enemies. Alternatively some quickhacks like sonic shock allow to upload traceable hacks and be untraceable. Been a long time since I played a netrunner build so I may be missing something

Also, don't use the higher tier Memory Wipe - the RAM cost is ridiculous for tier 5/iconic -stick to tier 4.

You can upgrade implants to higher levels than you can currently buy if you scrounge and save up enough components, and you need 75 tier 4 components to upgrade a hackdeck from tier 3 to 4. System Collapse is basically the non-lethal alternative to suicide: it shuts down the nervous system of a target to go night night.

Keep in mind that there are other options early on for reducing trace progress. There is a intelligence perk that fully reduces trace progress with takedowns, so early on you can use quickhacks pretty easily if you tag enemies and pace out takedowns.

The beauty of a netrunner build is you can basically complete the entire game on hardest difficulty by just using "cripple movement" hack on enemies, dash in behind them, take down. Move on to the next.

Makes you feel almost unstoppable when you have a maxed out netrunner build.

Everything correct here, I would only add that Level 20 may sound like much, but you can reach it actually quite quickly. Do a lot of NCPD missions to level up, because you will find them ridiculously easy once you have your tier 4 quickhacks.

Netrunner is probably the easiest build, but also clearly the most fun one. :steamhappy:

My build is Explosive netrunner with a smart weapon.
