It should be reasonably straightforward to compile a list of all the textures used in each level and give them material properties, but I haven't tried that yet.
Thanks for your reply, it's a bummer!
I'm trying now something Kaydee said somewhere in the threads here.
Kaydee has Quake II RTX 9 Jun @ 4:53am
"How tos of Q2RTX + Mission Packs
Hi, I'd like to briefly explain how to enable mission packs for the Q2RTX.
If you have Steam Q2 mission packs, it will be much easier in terms of downloading and installing. If you don't own a copy, go buy one.
1. Install Q2 mission packs
2. Copy all data files to Q2RTX folder.
3. Modify two BAT files (ground_zero.bat AND reckoning.bat) with a texteditor as follows:
Both files should begin with ".\quake2.exe", change the execution name to "q2rtx.exe", without the double quotation, and leave all other arguments as-is.
4. run the BAT!
Added.
Reckoning does not work.
I have tried to extract pak file contents to the root of Xatrix, but it did not work.
Someone please help X("

This is a custom build with support for expansion stuff, you still need to put .pak files in respective directories from your legit copy of the game. Provided launcher makes it easy to boot game or each expansion.
Bear in mind that whilst everything technically works, light sources are not defined so sky/lava don't exactly work as they should, new textures lack materials and thus won't have new features.
Other than that, everything should work start to finish and provided custom build has also flashlight that you can bind via console "bind x toggle cl_flashlight" in place of X just put any key you want.
Thanks man! Going to try this out aswell.
Method you posted 3 posts above will not work in Q2RTX as it requires 64 bit binaries (the gamex86 or actual gamex86_64.dll for both xatrix and rogue folders).
As of now only method to play Ground Zero and Reckoning is to use binaries i provide.
Rest of the custom build is optional but the binaries are mandatory.
Ok, I got Ground Zero working with the method. Looks great. But Reckoning will boot but won't start a game. Will look for a new a solution when I finish Ground Zero.
Thanks for helping man!
Booting doesn't exactly mean it works as if the game fails to load .dll specific to given mod/expansion it loads base Quake 2 one. Easy way to check is to look for new enemies or use give all console command and check whether new weapons are there.
Reckoning doesn't start a new game because its new game definition by default requests playing an intro movie, however Q2Pro/Q2RTX don't support movies and as such it doesn't know what to do.
I actually have a workaround for that but i didn't include it in my release by accident.
As of this post it is fixed now but if you're using my stuff, you'll need to redownload that release.
I am using Kaydee's method for Ground Zero at the moment. But will use your method too, later today. In the first mission the elevators didn't work lol, they work in other missions.
- install Lutris [lutris.net]
- configure Steam[linuxconfig.org]
- Install all the expansions: this example is for ground zero
- On lutris, look for Quake II Ground Zero Icon and right click on it -> Configure
- Go to the game options tab and Change the Application ID to the Quake RTX ID (1089130)
- In the same tab, add this new Argument to the launcher:
+set game rogue
So far it works decently, all the RTX mombojombo works fine so far(*The below assumes you own/have copied over the mission paks to your Quake II RTX folder)
To play "Expansion 1"
1. Go to your Steam Library, find Quake II RTX
2. Right click on it and select "Properties"
3. Under Launch Options enter the following: +set game xatrix
4. Launch Quake II RTX, enjoy the Xatrix expansion
To play "Expansion 2"
1. Go to your Steam Library, find Quake II RTX
2. Right click on it and select "Properties"
3. Under Launch Options enter the following: +set game rogue
4. Launch Quake II RTX, enjoy the Rogue expansion
--- OR ---
Assuming you have the "default" installation of Steam and Quake II RTX installed, simply open the RUN (Windows key+R) and enter...
For Expansion 1:
"%programfiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\Quake II RTX\q2rtx.exe" +set game xatrix
For Expansion 2:
"%programfiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\Quake II RTX\q2rtx.exe" +set game rogue
All the other mods above are completely unnecessary, I never had a problem once I copied the files over from my old CD's that I'm so happy I kept all these years :)
Unfortunately just noticed the necro thread, oh well this is probably way too late but hey, it's already typed so...
Confirmed! Both expansions start up and play fine with no hacking needed. Thanks!
Update: Reckoning plays OK, I think there's one key that wouldn't spawn. But Ground Zero is not happy, the main kind of lift doesn't work.
