Should I play Alan Wake American Nightmare if I didn't enjoy Alan Wake?
Ok so I got both games as a bundle sometime last year and finally finished alan wake. I presonally didnt enjoy it very much and kinda forced myself to beat it. I was thinking should I consider trying american nightmare or just put it in the back burner? Right now I am trying to compelte my backlog of games so that's why I'm asking.

It's shorter and more action-packed but I'd say - no, move on,
Agreed, I'm just gonna put it on the back burner.

Obviously, that would depend on why you didn't like the first one. Some things are different in American Nightmare; others are the same.

American Nightmare is much more arcad-ish, there's a lot more action, so if you are looking for that, give it a try !

However, if you were disappointed by the story in the original game, you will definitely not like American Nightmare.

I have just done the same thing. I played through the 1st game a second time because I had not yet played American Nightmare. And like you, I didn't enjoy the 1st game as a second play through. However, I thought American Nightmare was so much more enjoyable.
Its more of a 'limited' open world environment. So rather than having to follow a strict path, you can go and explore. It also has a variety of weapons and guns, as well as unlockables.

Its not a very big game, so give it a go... you will probably never give it a chance after this oppertunity.

Why didn't you enjoy it? I loved it!:Eye_tv:
i dunno i found the gameplay to get repetitve by episode 3. The story was pretty generic and my main issue was the pacing. I felt it was too long, took me about 13 hours to beat. 6 would have been beter.

That's interesting. I recall reading somewhere that it took 9 hours to beat. Guess it just depends on how (and how well) you play it.

The story was generic?!? I found it reffesingly unique in a world covered in CoD and it's knockoffs.:Dosh:

seriously
I mean I thought the story was good, but it just felt a bit slow paced and felt like alot of horror movies done that in a way. Just an opinion.

I would say give it a try. It's short and has a pretty different tone than the original.

Its a bit more Twilight Zone meets Groundhog Day, instead of Stephen King meets Twin Peaks.

Hope that helps!
A.N. is more concerned with improving the gameplay (although it still has a decent tale to tell) and A.W. is all about combining all of its various elements (Story, Gameplay, Atmosphere) to create rhe ultimate experience.

That's a damn good analagy for both Alan Wake (Stephen King meets Twin Peaks) and American Nightmare (Twilight Zone meets Groundhog Day). Also American Nightmare doesn't have the driving sequences like Alan Wake sometimes had as not many people were fond of those.
